Do You Like GREEK DINERS? Or JUst DINERS IN GENERAL?

I think DINER'S are COOL. ESPECIALLY 24 Hr ones. French Fries with CHEESE, Pancakes, Belgian Waffles, PIZZA BURGER DELUXES and AWESOME CAKES and PIES ALA MODE. Greek Diners are really good and portions are usually HUGE.

I generally like diners, but I have an affinity for Greek diners. My Great-Grandfather moved to the US from Greece in the early 1900s and opened a Greek diner which he ran for decades. He was able to keep it open during the depression. The diner was also known at the time as one of the few restaurants in the area (Utica, NY) in which the black train workers were welcome. He once served President Teddy Roosevelt, who walked into the kitchen after his meal to talk to my great-grandfather. That was something that Roosevelt was known for.

What exactly is a Greek diner ? Do they serve mainly Greek food or are they just regular diners run by Greek owners ? Or is the diner business in general dominated by Greeks ?
Everytime I´ve been to the USA , I could never find a truly authentic diner, to my surprise.

The last time I ate Greek food in a fancy restaurant I squeezed the lemon and the juice squirted in both of my eyes turning me into a blind mole lol

In my limited experience, Greek diners are not that much different from regular diners. At a Greek diner, you will tend to find souvlaki on the menu, and it will usually be made out of beef. If you ask people at the diner why it is made of beef, some will say that beef is the correct way to make souvlaki. That is not the case; lamb should be used. If you want Greek food beyond beef souvlaki, you have to go to a Greek restaurant.

The main stereotype of Greeks that I have heard (aside from the gay thing) is that Greeks run diners. Like other immigrant groups, it must have been a niche that the Greeks were able to get into; similar to Irish men becoming cops.
