i find that as i get older, i like to re-watch movies less frequently. i don't know what that's all about. shrug

there ARE exceptions. i watch 'grey gardens' a few times a year, and if anyone even says a word that sounds like 'xanadu' around me, the DVD goes into the machine.

there are other movies i try to watch once or twice a year, just because i have the dialog memorized and i don't want to get rusty:

valley of the dolls
female trouble
desperate living
polyester
husbands & wives
etc etc blah blah

I just realized Xanadu is out on dvd eek , I SO need to own that! smile

I forgot that I kinda watch Valley of the Dolls every once in a while, too. Did you, btw, see the Grey Gardens musical by chance? I swear to God the lead looked almost exactly like little Edie, even down to body shape, mannerisms, ALL of it cool

there's a fancypants new version of xanadu out - it's the DVD *and* the CD. the extras are kind of lame, but the box is pretty and glittery and i like to stare at it and giggle. giggle redface

the grey gardens musical was great! i was lucky enough to get front row tickets for it while it was in previews. the woman who played little edie is a very famous stage actress, though for the life of me i can't remember her name (i guess i could google it but i don't feel like it right now, my feet hurt). she won a tony for grey gardens, and she sure deserved it. between the way she looked and her incredible mannerisms and accent, it was like little edie stepped out of the movie onto the stage. really amazing.

Do you mean Christine Ebersol? She was fantastic in both roles she did.

the Mummy series. dunno how many times i watched those films. love them.

i'm a sucker for action/treasure hunt movies, so pretty much any of that genre i enjoyed watching, i'll watch again later. the first time i watch a movie i am absorbed in plot and character development, the second time around i am free to observe the props, special effects and etc.

Yes! Christine Ebersol. I knew it was Christine something and the only name I was getting was Baranski, and I knew that was wrong. lol I liked her as the younger Big Edie and I think it was amazing that she played dual roles, but it was her Little Edie that stole the show.

There's going to be a touring production of GG coming to Minnesota early next year. I'm a little scared/excited about seeing it.

I'm nervous about anybody doing anything related to GG too. It's one of my absolute favorite things ever. But Christine really nailed the performance.

Oh please please please do the Judy Davis rant that I love so much from Husbands and Wives. The one where she just goes all mental. I love that part.

I saw a scrawny little off-off-off Broadway play a long time ago which was a mash-up of Chekhov's "Three Sisters" and "Grey Gardens". The play was "meh" but it was one other time that I saw a really great performance of Little Edie. It was nowhere near as polished as Christine Ebersol, but it was still a treat - the person who played Little Edie was Justin Bond, a/k/a "Kiki" from Kiki & Herb. I'm a big Justin Bond fan, so I was delighted and not at all disappointed. One of those crazy once in a lifetime moments where you see one hero of yours portray another of your heroes...not to mention I love them both because they're nuts. lol

I have watched Fried Green Tomatoes countless amount of times, I have no idea..maybe 30? It is charming, witty, sweet..I love the respect that Kathy Bates character has for Jessica Tandy's character. I especially love the story told, the story being narrated is set back in the 1930's. I recently got my 10 year old to sit through the whole movie with me, I think she's hooked!

oh, and i can always watch a star wars movie, though that's more like visual wallpaper for me at this point. turn it on, put it on in the middle, play it with esperanto overdubbing, i don't care - i'll gaze absently at it and i'll like it.

except for that episode II crap - that movie is DRAB. disbelief

I used to rewatch movies for certain elements, but with Blu-Ray you can set a marker and jump right back to the titties elements.

Honestly...Its embarassing and I shouldn't admit it but... I've probably watched Graffiti Bridge about 100 times boxed

I've only owned it since 2004, but at one point I had gotten used to just putting it on each night when I was winding down for bed...something about it was just soothing lol

Grease. I saw it 4 times in one day one time when I was about 8 years old.

Haven't seen it for a while, but I really don't think there's anything that comes close.

I'm scared to death this will be on high definition blue ray one day.
I mean, it's bad enough to listen to Ingrid Chavez read her poetry, but to watch her temples pulse while she's doing it in stark detail disbelief ?
