EGG INTOLERANCE!!!

Mod brethren, please do not move this to P&R. This thread is not about mere racial intolerance against that oval delicacy of the domestic foul. This is about me getting the hardcore bubbleguts from omelettes!!! bawl

I never knew there was such a thing as egg intolerance, but apparently it is alive and well in my GI system. If I were lactose intolerant, I think I would have to put my head in an oven and push myself off the cliff, because I don't know if I could make it in a world without brie and ice cream.

Eggs are going to be a hassle to steer clear of, but at least it's not milk. And I probably shouldn't be eating eggs anyway (OR milk, ok? - that's my way of acknowledging the arguments of my beloved fundamentalist veganites of the Org - I know, already - I KNOW! oy), but I'm gonna miss making my famous egg salad sandwiches and I'm going to have to be very mindful when I decide I can't help it and I break down and have to get a breakfast burrito.

Woe.

Any other egg intolerant folks on here? Any advice on how to prepare "eggless" omelettes and whatnot? How bad do Egg Beaters suck?

Food intolerances are stupid. pout

i am pretty sure i've had it for a few years, but it's just been within the past few months that i've put the pieces together and started taking it seriously. it's not a life-long thing by any means.

I see...something similar's happening to me.
I'm a bread lover. I need bread with every meal. A bagel every morning for breakfast.
However, I've noticed that my yummy morning bagels...even if I forego the egg & bacon and it's just buttered...gives me acid reflux.
sigh

didn't even have to click this to know who would be pictured lol

but anwyay, i've got an egg thing too. they give me indegestion, sometimes. actually, i've noticed that it's only when they're cooked over easy or sunny side up (or any time the yolk is still runny). i get it right at the top of my throat, or somewhere down in my neck. i don't know what acid reflux feels like, but this is what i imagine it to. (maybe it is, i don't know).

it never stops me from eating them, though. so stop being a baby and just have them anyway.

(except late at night, relatively soon before going to bed. i've noticed that it strikes hardest then). thumbs up!

Actually, I love the movie. But oddly enough, she repulses me. I couldn't eat eggs for about 3 weeks after I first saw that movie.

From webmd:

http://www.webmd.com/alle...ntolerance

If you have an intolerance, you need to google everything that has eggs. Pasta, cake, stuffing in the Turkey for Thanksgiving, meatballs etc. Damn.
It can be dose related. A small amount may be OK.

But, you're vegetarian, so, more tofu and beans?

I'm ok with them now but when I was a toddler my mother literally almost killed me when she gave me eggs for the first time.

i'm fine with things that have egg as an ingredient, like pastries and whatnot.

items like omelettes and egg salad are the killers.

as a vegetarian, i've sampled a lot of egg-free entrees - some are great, some not so great. so i know i can be perfectly content as a part-time vegan, it's just that i'll miss me my eggs. pout
