I used to work in a group home that has a ghost smile

It was well known in the organization that this particular home had an "extra" resident. Every staff had experienced something there - I experienced lots of little strange things during my time there, but this was one of the freakiest things...

One day one I was sitting at the kitchen table chatting with one of the ladies that lived there, the kitchen was in direct view to the livingroom where the tv was located. NOBODY was around the tv at all and it turned itself on - full volumn. Now let me just say that this tv was older, one that did not have a remote or an infrared sensor to add a remote - you had to pull the knob out to turn it on. The lady I was talking with looks at me and goes "what was that?" and we both kinda just stared blankly at each other then I got up to go turn it down (figured whoever/whatever wanted to have the tv on, just didn't need it QUITE that loud lol).

So this was kinda a BIG thing to me and I happened to be in the office a few days later and was visiting with our director - telling her what happened, she was loving the story, and my supervisor walked by and asked what we were talking about, so I told her about the "ghost". She rolled her eyes and said she didn't believe in such things...

A couple weeks later I have a meeting in the house with my supervisor...

There are only the two of us in there, the residences were all at work or their day programs. We were sitting at the dining room table when quite distinctly someone walks quite heavily across the entire length of the hall directly upstairs. My supervisor asks me "who else is here?" (because nobody else was supposed to be there) I just smiled and said nobody, that's our ghost. After we completed what we working on, I took her upstairs to show her that nobody else was there - she never said so, but I'm pretty sure by the look on her face that she was a believer after that day. smile

OOPS.. forgot to say where this was (as requested): Winnipeg, Manitoba canada

Spooky, thanks for sharing, but come on I want to hear from Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and every where in between.

There is a place close to my university that is supposedly haunted.

Yea I used to work in a haunted theatre in Liverpool ....I was the supervisor so while the shows where taking place I was based underground counting the takings. That part of the theatre was the only existing part of the original building, which dates back hundreds of years.

I used to hear doors closing and locking by themselves, footsteps of womens heels, corks flying off wine bottles, lots of stuff like that.
I kind of got used to it after awhile.
Aparently it was the ghost of a cleaning lady who tripped and fell into the orchestra pit and broke her neck while cleaning the stage.

I lived in a hounted house in NY for years.. we use to hear people walking around doors opening and closing. the one bedroom was a hell lot more hounted than the rest of the house. there was a hook and eye lock on the inside of the door that would lock its self... I had a little Rafiki toy (from the lion king) its eyes would shift from side to side really fast every now and then...( cool I still have it) holes appeard in the walls.. every person that slept in that room got extremly depressed and suicidal. there were times that I would be completely alone in the house over night with the dog and cats in my bedroom. and hear scratching at the door would get up to see what was there and hear scamparing down the hall (like a running dog on wet linoleum floor)
one night I heard a door slam real hard the house literally shook.. got up to see who was coming in or even going out looked in at my parents to see if my dad had left for work he was still sleeping so i went back to my room.. a few mins later heard heavy foot steps so went looked back in my parents room they were still sleeping... as I was heading back to my room I heard a faint voice coming from the bathroom I couldnt quite make out what was being said even though it got louder as I got closer. when I looked into the bathroom there was a lady with long white hair dressed completely in white standing near the toilet.. she was talking to me I can still see the solumn look on her face now... scared me then but thinking back I think she was trying to tell me something just not sure what yet. who knows.

My in-laws used to have a ghost at their old house.

They would constantly hear boxes being moved from one side of the room to the other up in the attic.

Once they bought a pair of table lamps that were "touch" activated. Apparently the ghost thought that they were cool also, because they started turning on & off & on & off - first one lamp, then the other, and so forth and so on.

They put the lamps away and a few years later finally are able to enjoy them now that they are down in Florida!

I live with a couple of "visitors". One is a girl called Sarah aged about 10. I live on the site of an old cotton mill and she died in the mill. The other is an old man dressed very poorly with wooden clogs who does not like the lounge door closed and opens it and likes watching TV.

They are just visitors not resident and the cold spot is on the top of the stairs.
They walk up and down the stairs often which can be a bit annoying but other than that they are ok.

My father who is a sensitive came to our house and immediately knew that there were visitors and was delighted when they made themselves known.

I haven't had one that I know of, but I have a family friend/teacher who has.

Her husband is a mortician and him and his family own a Funeral home business.
One day she told me about how she never believed in ghosts or anything even though her husband told her all the weird things that happend to him.. but then later she told me a story that changed her mind.

She told me that one day she was at the funeral home (in the days when it happend her and her husband were living in the upstairs of the home) and she was getting ready to leave but her husband told her to put something in the room where they keep a reserved body or a preserved body? can't remember what she said. so, she want in there to do it and there was a body in there (note that the body is in a zipped up bag people, so she didn't worry too much.)
She went into the room and after a few minutes she said that the air changed and she started feeling really uncomfortable and nauseas. So she turned around and headed for the door and all of a sudden before she got to the door the strap on her LV purse instantly snapped and broke. Causing all of her things to spill out onto the floor. She hurried up and picked up her stuff and rushed out.

She said that she knew something was weird then the air changed. She also says that now she believes in ghosts for real. and she is still sketchy about the home although her and her husband no longer live there.

Weird. eek

(This is a true story none of the things in it were made up.)
just thought I'd add that because i know some people get a little over exagerant and make alot up. razz

changed broked to broke

I think a presence came to visit me at work last week. No really. I thought it was just shadows from the glass doors infront of my desk and the glass bricks- but it hasn't happened any other time. I kept feeling somebody standing infront of me at my desk- look up...nothing. I kept feeling somebody looking at me through the glass...nothing. I kept feeling somebody coming up behind me to do things...looked behind...NOTHING!! The whole day. The area of which i work is a mecca of offices and studios within the media industry- but it is within an area also where you have to be aware- there is alot of drugs and prostitution and homeless people around. Very sad. May have been a lost soul i think who just kinda came to see if i would pay attention maybe? Trapped maybe? I dunno. But it was strange. I felt like i needed eyes at the back of my head that day. omfg

I don't know if I'd call this a ghost story, per se, but my family and I have experienced some weird stuff out in the Four Corners region of the US:

We were driving from Vernal, UT to Colorado when we saw this Native American hitchhiker on the road. We didn't think anything of it and kept going. We then saw the same hitchhiker about 5 times on the road, and we hadn't stopped driving in between. We called him the "Border Ghost".

There's also a really scary stretch of Highway 191 in Northern Arizona. My brother and I were driving north to Utah at night in 1998. I was at the wheel and noticed tons and TONS of crosses on the side of the road where people had been killed. It didn't seem to be a dangerous area topographically. I thought Nathan was asleep in the passenger seat next to me, but as soon as we got into Utah, he told me he was just paralyzed with fear. Later that summer, we returned to the Four Corners region for a graduation present to me, and took the same stretch of highway, against my wishes! My mom was asleep in the back seat and later woke up to tell us she kept having these strange visions of picking up rocks and turning them over to see evil faces on the other side.

Once i had a "chat" with a door!!!
I was 16 & really in a bad mood, wondering about crucial choices 2 make in my life, wondering about us being alone or if there was "someone" above, unsure what 2 believe in & what kinda person i'd choose 2 b.
The door then opened by itself while i was saying something very negative & during 5 minutes it kept opening whenever i was saying "negative" things & closing whenever i was saying something "positive."
A friend of mine who was there (& he's not the "i believe in ghosts" type, he's very skeptical) witnessed the whole thing & he was just terrorized (actually the scene ended because after 5 minutes he was so afraid that he wanted us 2 leave the room & go outside.)
Personnally, i wasn't afraid cuz i could really feel a very strong "presence" in the room, a very friendly one. I knew it wasn't anything "evil."
Actually it was my 1st contact with my "guardian angel" or "friendly spirit" or "guide" or whatever u call it. Since this "being" is one spirit between 2 incarnations i guess u can call him/her a ghost (he/she's "dead", after all.) Since then he/she never moved objects again (it wasn't necessary anymore 4 me knowing he/she's here) but i felt his/her presence many times.

Lotsa weird stuff that r more like impossible coincidences or very, very strong & obvious "signs" happened later in my life & i can tell 'em if u wish, but these r not really "ghosts" story, more "paranormal events"
