we are marshal star star star star
i think people thought it was a football movie but it's really a story of the people.

happy feet star star star star
it was sweet... took two different batches of kids to it... first time i've seen a movie twice in theatres
although that's not a reflection on how much i loved the movie, more about spending time with kids.

before that... i think i have to stretch back to
pirates of the carribean 2 star star star not as good as the first, but i wasn't feeling the best so perhaps i didn't enjoy it as much for that reason.

I actually recently went to the drive-ins otherwise I would have had a real hard time coming up with 3 movies I have seen in the theater.

Disburbia = 1/4
Blades of Glory = 2/4
Shooter = 1.5/4

The Fountain 3/10

That bad? I haven't seen it yet, but I wanted that movie to be good. neutral

Well, as you know it has three parallel plotlines that are supposed to add weight to each other, but I honestly thought two of them (the future and the past) were superfluous since they didn't have any substance of their own and the connection between them was loose to say the least.

The present day plotline was pretty decent and the chemistry between the two leads was good, but in the end everything felt predictable both in terms of the outcome and the narrative leading to it. It didn't connect emotionally as much as it should have either (and that's a huge drawback for a story like this one), in great deal because so much time was wasted on mumbo jumbo instead of character development.

It's a nice-looking, nicely paced film with a few good moments though, so if you're a really big Aronofsky you might still want to check it out.

It seems like everybody enjoyed 300 except me. I would probably have thought it was cool when I was 17, but when I saw it now I just thought it was a silly and tedious bloodfest. shrug

I would have given '300' 4/5 stars myself.

I totally agree with your ratings for 'Children Of Men' and 'The Prestige' though.

I said in a theater because I wanted the thread to stick to relatively recent films so orgers could maybe use it as a movie guide if they couldn't decide on which one to see.

Next 2 stars. It was basically an okay movie, but Nicolas Cage's part wasn't too far from his part in Ghost Rider and all of the action sequences were in the trailer so the actual movie had few surprises. biggrin

Sunshine 1 star. Visually it was pretty, but the story lacked excitement. It was rather predictable and strangely boring. biggrin

300 1 star. Visually it was interesting, but I was bored, despite the sexy leading man. biggrin

Now I'm looking forward to Spider-Man 3. I'll see it on Wednesday along with a couple of friends. biggrin

The Hills Have Eyes II - Terrible, it doesn't deserve any stars whatsoever!

That's only 2, I can't remember before that cause it was quite awhile ago.

Well, ever since the VCR and DVD era, I've only been to an actual theater if I was absolutely dying to see the movie and couldn't wait for it to come out on video. Here are the last 3 movies I saw in an actual theater:

54 (great)
Truth or Dare (decent)
Grafitti Bridge (horrible)

lol

One of the very worst movies i have ever seen, 1000% Ridiculous

Charlotte's Web: + star star star

decent movie, true enough to the book, a tad too long

Revenge of the SITH + star star

let's face it, Lucas screwed the pooch on the PT. he totally ruined the franchise and he squandered the mythos he started in the OT.

Yeah, it's been years since the last time I saw a good sci-fi movie. In fact, it's been so long I can hardly recall what the last good sci-fi movie was. The director's cut of The Chronicles of Riddick? confuse

Three more:

Exterminating Angels star star (out of five) - The story was nonsense and the sex wasn't even that hot.

Spider-Man 3 star star star 1/2 - The fight scenes were the best in the franchise, but the story was too goofy in some parts.

Black Book star star star star - Very good Dutch wartime melodrama. And lead actress Carice van Houten is drool
