I have an "emo"friend and he's one of the nicest people I know.
And all the goths I know are always hugging each other and get more shit than they deserve for their makeup. sad

"Chav" or "Chavi" is a gypsy word for "young boy". Eastenders started using "chavvy" to refer to all children years ago. It became an offensive name to refer to someone as a "chav" because they were being called a little kid. Chavs are however morons and now see it as a badge of honour.

(While I usually debate the veracity of citing wikipedia as a source, in this instance it seems to be on the money with it's definition and etymology of the term.
