The fashion statement bewteen Emo's and chavs is kinda funny, i know some "emo's", and they are just like chavs. On my estate (read as a block, but can be more rough then a tough area in the US i'd say), its a amost daily battle between emo and chavs. As opposed to chavs vs chavs.



Theres a park right outside our estate, and the emo's just seem to sit on the grass all afternoon, whilst the chavs play football and try and intimidate them in general. Both "groups" seem to know me, either through myself once knowing older brothers or sisters, or them just seeing me play basketball, and both seem friendly enough to me, on the most part.....


Its interesting to watch, but a freak show, on both parts all the same. Emo's seem like the victims. Seem to be more middle class too, which is odd, as they must be as poor as me, as they live in the same area (i presume)

Anyone live in an area where there are not just "gangs" of the same sort of people, but gangs who dress differently, and seem to act differently aswell? Any violence where you live?


Emo's will look back and think "WTF was i wearing" in a decade or so LOL

I know what a Chav is, I presume the US chav is the same as a UK one?

Look in tesco, at checkouts, or in a mall, u'll see that often common EMO haircut, like in the pic above. Personally I think that haircut is gonna date as bad as the rat-tail i use to rock as a small kid.

Chavs are seen to be very agressive, lager louts, who will pick on anyone, even chavs. Girls love 'em. Girl chavs are just a bit of a joke really.

It's all about being Grups now. Not so much an aesthetic movement (though it's very easy to spot a grup out), but a new Subculture steeped in a new type of conciousness laced with consumer savviness.

The few goths i have met have been really friendly. I remember walking home late one night (u know, around 2am), i was on my own, and strollin' through a tough area. A few people started on me, and a couple of goths, out of the blue (or black LOL) sorta came to my rescue. I woulda been fine to be honest, but they told the druggies to back off. Damn, it was like a movie or something. Nightlife rocks and i've always dug it, despite the fights.

The goths were really funny to the druggies, saying they'd curse them and turn them into toads and shit. u know, deliberately stereotyping themselves. Really silly sorta humour. The druggies looked shocked and backed off. That was awesome. I was only about 16 at the time. Kinda sweet of them LOL

Of course, iam not trying to generalize any group here, but they seem the coolest of the lot

just tossing my two cents in. i was recently having this talk with someone and i don't like that goths are tossed into the same grouping as emos. i once matched the goth profile (not really dressed it anymore) but i still feel deep down i continue to be a goth, just not in a physical way anymore.

however on a side note. emo girls are hot and emo boys making out is also hot.

There are one or two Chavs living in our street, but they are relative pleasant people. I haven't seen an EMO, but now I am gonna be watching for them...

chavs There was some battle between the "Goths" and the "Skaters" where I live.....mostly high school kids. Supposedly the "Goths" would go to the skate park and terrorize the "Skaters". They even had a write up in the local paper explaining to people who aren't quite up to date as to what Goths and Skaters look like. They gave descriptions....I guess the essentials on how to be a Skater or Goth. I'm so glad I'm not in high school anymore. That whole "us" vs. "them" shit is just stupid. Well, my high school didn't really have cliques like jocks,goths,punks,skaters, etc.....if anything they were divided by class and race.
