If she gave me her number I assume it's okay to call. If we're gonna start with the games of "don't look so desperate by calling too soon" right from the start, I'm not really interested anyway.

Maybe not the day after, but the day after that.

Seriously, if he makes the mistake of approaching the girl first and she does give her number then don't call right away. Give it a couple days or a week. You don't want to seem too eager or that you like her too much. You want to give the impression that you have a life and that you have other things important going on. That she's not the most important thing.

But you shouldn't approach first in the first place. Let her do it.

Did she tell you to call her or not call her within a certain time? If so, respect that. I personally hate it when guys call the very next day after getting my number. Seems too desperate to me, so if I give them my number I explicitley tell them not to call the next day. If they do anyway, it makes me think they either:

1. aren't good listeners
2. don't respect me/my wishes (not horribly disrespectful, but not taking what I say seriously sort of disrepectful)
3. are desperate

all of which are no good in my book.

If you call on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday don't ask her to do something that weekend. It implies the either you or she don't have plans... Ask her to do something on a weeknight...that way if it bombs you can cut out early with the "I have to be up early for work" excuse.

That's just me...

Sorry if that last paragraph sounds Spatsy, but I kind of agree with him on that one...
