7 explosions confirmed by authorities and news, new details coming in regularly

8:52 Explosion at Aldgate tube station

followed by an explosion at Edgware tube station (no specific time given as yet)

FTSE index drops 180 points - although now seeing a slow recovery

Within half an hour of the previous two explosions, Kings Cross, Liverpool St, and Moorgate are hit and evacuated

10am: Bus explodes in Tavistock Square - the BMA building is reported by eye witnesses as being 'splattered with blood'. The bus in Taverstock Square (near Russell Square) was a tourist bus, and an eye witness stated that:
"the whole top of the bus went straight up - straight up in the air. I saw the whole top of the bus go completely off of it"

Describing the bus blast in Tavistock Square, witness Belinda Seabrook said she saw an explosion rip through the vehicle:
"I was on the bus in front and heard an incredible bang, I turned round and half the double-decker bus was in the air, It was a massive explosion and there were papers and half a bus flying through the air."
She said the bus had been travelling from Euston to Russell Square and was 'packed' with people turned away from Tube stops.

One caller to Radio station BBC Five Live said his friend had seen the bus "ripped open like a can of sardines".

11am: All bus routes stopped within Zone One

Reports come in regarding Swindon and Brighton train stations evacuated due to 'security incidents' - no further details

Rumours of a suicide bomber being shot in London's Canary Wharf - again, neither confirmed or denied by police etc

A controlled explosion is undertaken outside of Liverpool St station south

In a Press conference given by London's Emergency services around 3pm GMT they confirm:

More than 33 fatalities (this is NOT including the bus bomb - fatalities still unknown)

Well over 300 people treated thoughout city hospitals

Over 100 ambulance vehicles attended scenes

Over 200 firefighters attended scenes

Police state it appears to be a 'calculated and coordinated attack'

Tony Blair says terrorists will not destroy "our values and our way of life", flies back from G8 summit to London after statements to the nation

An Islamist website posts a statement purportedly from al-Qaeda claiming it was behind the attacks, and warning other countries like Denmark amongst others to expect similar attacks. This is still being looked into and has yet to be confirmed 100%

Buckingham Palace releases a statement from Her Majesty The Queen:
"The dreadful events in london this morning have deeply shocked us all... I have nothing but admiration for the emergency services as they go about their work"

Presently, no children seem to be involved in any of the blasts - although again, this was neither confirmed or denied by emergency services during their press conference

Roads in and out of the city gridlocked.

News coming into BBC news from Arab sources stating that rumours are aounding of Al-Qaeda claiming 'responsibility' for the explosions. But this is still unconfirmed as of 11:54am GMT
