OMG - My Memory So anyways, I bought this set of Leraning CD's by Dominic O'Brien called "Quantum Memory" and after just the second excercise, I'm able to remember lists of 10 to 20 things without forgetting them after a single pass. What's more, it's been 8 hours since my mental list below, and I was able to recall the list backwards and forwards and any place in between effortlessly. This stuff is cool. And with almost no effort. I can remember 10 of the world's largest bodies of water in a specific order. I memerized this once earlier today, then recited it only once after that. But here's the list (and I'm typing it automatically with almost no effort in trying to remember) 1). Pacific Ocean 2). Atlantic Ocean 3) Indian Ocean 4) Arctic Ocean 5) Arabian Sea 6) South China Sea 7) Carabien Sea 8) Mediteranian Sea 9) Bearing Sea 10) The Bay of Bengal (NOTE: This doesn't mean I've bothered to memorize spelling them) THis is amazing. I'm gonna be doing more excercises tommorow. HOLY SHIT THIS ROCKS.

I need that for studying. I can't remember a damn thing. Here's the trick. Map out a place that your familiar with (maybe your house, or a drive you take everday) Asign 10 very specific locations on this trip. Picture them clearly. Now take any 10 things on a list you want and assign them to the places on your "trip". Picture them clearly. If they're abstract concepts like say "taxes" then think of an image that phonetically might be simular, like a "taxi" So let's say that the third place on your daily trip was your shower in your bathroom, and the third thing on your list was to do your taxes, imagine a taxi (yes a car) taking a shower in your bathtub. You'll never forget the list. And after a few awkward momments of doing this, you'll notice that you can do it very quickly, and with many "trips" I've got a trip through my house, and a trip to the beach with 10 stops each. I can effortlessly memorize 20 things in a list now in a very specific order. It's really neat. Supposedly you can go up to hundreds of things if you want. and never forget.

That specific memory technique was practiced by the greeks and then the romans.

Great after reading multiple threads I am still envisioning a damn taxi in my shower.
I don't need this I am going back to bed!

Ex-Moderator | This would never work for me. First, I'd have to pay attention enough to have a trip with 10 definite stops or landmarks planned out. That would take a long enough time to memorize. Secondly, I'm not that visual a person. I don't think visualizing a taxi taking a shower would help me remember taxes.
But, I have a great memory anyway. |
