Yes,there are alot of heated emotions,tense arguments and the occasional name-calling,but that's how it is when you discuss controversial topics like politics,religion,war and racial issues.There are so many different opinions,but it's interesting to see how other Orgers feel about these subjects.I find myself enjoying the discussions and debates.But I have to admit,I do kinda feel sorry for the few conservatives who would dare visit that forum...lol...there seems to be a deep dislike for President Bush ove there.

I'm with you, shausler! I used to visit every so often, but I just found myself getting incensed. For the sake of my blood pressure, I stopped going to that forum, and I haven't been there in months.

Missing out on the 5% of potentially worthwhile commentary that exists over there is more than balanced by not having to wade through the 95% shit to access it.

i like the p&r forum. i'm usually not in the majority of popular opinion but that's ok. most people are usually cool with me when they disagree and i try my best not to get frustrated...i mean, everyone is entitled to their opinions and everyone has their reasons why they feel certain ways. the ony time it begins to annoy me is when people throw a spin on things just to twist words or ever so slightly change the topic. or when they are clearly not interested in discussing but would rather just argue.

I don't go there at all anymore...it's extremely hard to find someone who's willing (or perhaps even able) to debate a political topic without merely resorting to parroting sound bites and dismissing your view by labeling you in one extreme form or another. The art of debate is dying, and has been turned completely to dust over at the P&R Forum...no tit-for-tat discussions with each side giving their viewpoint legitimacy by backing up their positions with fact...instead it's merely a bunch of mindless rhetoric and insults. Make a valid point? Oh, and really, how many threads about the JWs are needed?? There is nothing wrong with discussing a particular faith, but it seems there are one or two individuals who are just determined to get the JW folks to "see the error of their ways". Thread after thread attacking one sect just seems ridiculous to me. I find myself constantly leaping to the JW member's defense, just because I can't stand to see a particular group singled out and bashed. I would love to be able to discuss differing scriptural points with the JWs instead (as most of them are willing to do), but instead I spend my time defending their right to those viewpoints.
