As far as even being so confusing that it's not clear whether or not they're talking about Prince's deceased son, why even bother being unclear? That's something you don't want to mess with, especially within a community of Prince fans. That's bad taste, and since they consider themselves so well-versed in Prince lore, they are well aware of its implications. They know what they're doing.
