TRC seems to get better to me every time I play it. Then live performances that we have of some of the material - like Everlasting Now and The Work pt. 1 - make it feel even better.

The Rainbow Children is my favourite Prince album.

The Sensual Everafter, Last December, Digital Garden, Everywhere, The Rainbow Children, Everlasting Now...

It's just got that something that I can't quite put my finger on. It's got everything that I've always loved about P's music. It's got variety, it's got great, unique lyrics (who cares whether you agree with them or not? No-one's ever come up with lyrics like them before), it's got beautiful strangeness (that slowed-down voice) and some of the most delicious tunes that he's ever released. He must have been a very happy man when he was recording it.

A true Prince classic and it's such a shame that it was only noticed by such a relatively small number of people compared to his previous albums.

Yes, I am certainly still feeling this album in a major way. Everything about it is just class. The instruments are recorded brilliantly and the whole mix and sequencing of the album is great.

It is, if not my favourite Prince album, in my Top 5 albums by our Lil' Purple Funkateer!

This is THE album that made me realise Prince could still be relevant within the music I listen to and has given himself a new lease of life through it.

TRC is a slab of frozen shit.

my mate Andre said the religious lyrics ruined it for him. i told him it's probably the best Prince album since SOTT. he said he would have to have a second listen. he won't like it still.

I'm listening to it right now and I really, really like it.

one day, we may all look back upon that one night in june 2001 when prince's current incarnation was born onstage in montreal, when our man did a wild, free-form set that left everyone baffled and amazed. that led to TRC, the ONA tour, xpectation , N.E.W.S., and who knows what's next, but i can't wait to find out!

TRC is COOL: great great album, especially the music
but i like the voice 2 hehe, dont care much about the message or meaning. The record has a nice spirit,
good enough 4 me.

I was (of course) totally intrigued by the almost operatic quality of the snippet of music I heard. Five months later I came to recognize it as "The Last December."

My hubby and I listen to this cd a lot. We have liked it from day one. I have said this before and I still believe that TRC is a masterpiece. If the silly voice wasn't there, it would be absolutely amazing. Even though I don't care for the religious yadda, yadda the music speaks for itself.

I was still a relatively new Prince fan when TRC came out. I always wonder if he had put out another Rave or NPS whether I would have continued following him. I like Rave and NPS, but it was really refreshing to get something like TRC.

I put the disk in again the other day to give it another try and it is practically impossible to get thru. It is unfortunate that this is what is passing for his "masterpiece" these days. But at least Prince can bank on the 100,000 - 200,000 fans he has to buy it.

I haven't played it in a long while, because I wore it out long ago. But yes, it's damn great. And I'm not one of those people who diminishes the word "great" by over-using it for anything and everything.

I think that TRC silenced all the critics that pronounced Prince as dead even after Emancipation. Prince did something that only he can do. We were reminded that he really is the last true genius of popular music - regardless of popularity and record sales.

I can remember one of those nerdy "fams" on one of the monthly NPGMC ahdio shows saying that this album would be referenced several years from now. As it was not nearly as popular as it should be, I can see it being rediscovered by students of music history in 20 or 30 years. It will be that gem that was overlooked in its time - like some of the resurrected classics from Miles and Hendrix that the record companies reissue so frequently these days.

I am amazed. After Rave it seemed he might hit cruise control and do a Stevie Wonder on us and faaadddeee... out. But no, he did a 180 and put it all together on this one. Everything he'd ever done up to that point was incorporated onto this album and it sounds great.
If any album will stand up over time it will be this one regardless of what critics say.

TRC was the Prince album I waited 14 years for.
People wanted to see the "free" Prince and they got him & many did not like what they saw.
