Prince on SNL?

I just saw a Comedy Central rerun of a Saturday Night Live episode (Host: Marial Hemmingway, Music: Blues Traveler) from something like 94 or 95 and heard something interesting. During David Spade's "Spade on America" segment (sorta like Weekend Update) he kept on joking about Prince and the whole symbol thing, and made references to him bailing on the show. Does this mean Prince was possibly going to be on SNL that year and he pulled out? I hadn't heard about this before, has anyone else?

Prince was suppose to perform on SNL in 95. He even told us at Paisley Park that he was going to be on it. But he was suffering from a Sore throat because he was doing so many shows at Paisley. He just ended up coming down with the Flu. I remember he was sick and apologizing to the Fans while he sipped on tea. It was so cute. And he was Fantastic so there was surely no need to apologize. I was so looking forward to his performance on SnL but he cancelled it and the newspaper said he had other prior commitments. But that night he was performing at Paisley instead. I wished I never left Minneapolis..
