Man i saw prince play some shit up close this year and he was burning! is there any other guitar players that can play as fast as prince? is there anyone you have seen live (cuz i know some use studio tricks) play as fast as prince?

on another note...tori amos plays piano like a fairy child possessed. it's like prince on guitar. genius and intoxicating and out of this world.

Kerry King from Slayer can play as fast as Prince, but it's two totally different types of music.

Any 14-year-old kid who listens to speed metal and can be found at the guitar stores during resessions is faster than prince. The man is slooow...

If you ask my humble opinion the best thing he has played on the g-tar lately has been the little thing on "She loves me 4 me". I don't care about pace, I want subtlety. Personally, I feel that he was a much much more interesting guitar player when he was still a young kid.

Seriously, there are so many who are faster and more precise in playing fast. But to be honest, I don't really like this fast playing (most of the time). I prefer bluesy playing like Santana's.

Prince is not slow, no way he is slow. But you can be sure he is not the fastest guitar player, There's a lot of guitar players more fast than him.
But you can be sure that Prince is more fast than guys like
Eric Clapton, jimmy Page, Hendrix, Slash, joe Perry, Richie Sambora, Santana.
But he cannot play as fast as Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert and other shredders.

Dave Mustaine's pretty Fuckin' fast too.

There are at least 100 guitar players only in the USa that are faster than him. I am not saying they are better, but they are faster. Not that I care about virtusos, but the truth must be told

There are alot more faster guitar players, although many of them are in the guitar instrumental category/genre, not exactly mainstream. Joe Satriani is the fastest I've ever seen -- 10 times faster than Prince -- you couldn't see his fingers. But faster doesn't mean better of course, Prince really kicks some kickass notes!!! I'm finding his expressive guitar playing a breath of fresh air from the typical rock guitarists' antics.
