What if Prince died tomorrow?

With the death of some lesser musical talents (no disrespect to either of them) such as Aliyah and "Left Eye"
how would the world, the industry react to an untimely death of Prince a mega-star?

I think the whole music world would take a couple days off. I don't think it would affect the "today's" crowd as much due to a lot of younger people not liking Prince as much. But I think everyone in the msuic industry would defently be very upset and sad.

I could even see a music tribute and special award for him.

I know we would all be down for a while.

I think when he is all said and done, he WILL go down as one of the greatest music artists off all time.

He will be in with Elvis, Micheal Jackson and 2 Pac.

Peace

I could see if you said the J. Lennon, J Hendrix, or hell if you wanna do modern RAP/Hip Hop say Qtip, Wyclef, or even Biggie Small.
Why not just say Will Smith while your at it (just kidding)?

Almost everybody in the Rap world considers 2 Pac the greatest ever. I personally do not, but most do. Either him or Biggy. I think it is 2 Pac over Biggy hands down though.

I think Prince though might be the GREATEST of any genre of ALL TIME for many reasons

That's because both died at very young ages.

Ever notice how Kurt Cobain was designated a "genius" and the "voice of a generation" AFTER he died? Why weren't these things hyped when Nirvana was a working band? Nirvana was a big influence on the rock music of the 1990s, they had a couple of really big albums, and critical acclaim. But people weren't giving him these titles til his death.

Not that dying young makes EVERY recording artist more important than they were perceived to be during their lives. For example, Hendrix's impact was being felt while he was still alive, and he changed the way people play guitar DURING his life. Although his work wasn't really put into perspective til years later.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Then I would cry...and cry...and cry...I think it would be a long time for me to adjust. I would need to be around other fams 4 awhile to help me.

I don't like thinking about it, but anything can happen.

Though I publicly hesitate to admit this, his passing would probably hit me real hard, depending on the circumstances.

If it was a plane crash or something like that, I'd probably be really devastated.

If he lived to be 100 years old, senile, still talking a lot of shit, making mediocre music & whatever, I'd be less affected.

His time is going to come, just like everyone else's.

In any event, his place in music history was secured YEARS ago..
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

Some fans would have nothing too complain about. THere would be more than a few whacked out fans dressed in "purple" trench coats trying too crash the funeral, claiming they are personal guests of the deceased.

Then there are those of us that would just be stunned and just light a candle. then move on with life

The celebration would take on a totally different meaning...

maybe the vault would be unleashed...

Natalie Cole would take the vocals from Solo and make a duet a la "Unforgettable"

The NPGMC would send out an email saying "Prince is dead. This information is subject 2 change without any notice"

i am on a roll today!

We talked about this B-4.The sad thing is..
We don't find out all there is until
somebody is gone..Why does it have to
Take death to bring out appreciation?

Where are the Shows Now while he's
alive.
Has there ever been Behind the Music
For Prince?? It would have 2-B 2hrs
long and extended on DVD.
We all want a big hit again because
we want to relive the Hysteria & Pandemonium we experienced
when Purple Rain was Hot. Actually, he doesn't care if it happens again or not.

ah come on, appreciation he's already earned and gotten. but he's just been out of the spotlight for too long. only something interesting/controversial/tragic can bring p back in that spotlight. his death for instance.

i know it is a bit unhealthy to talk about this but only in his passing will the greatness of his musicial journey become clear. he will, in the fullness of time be, along with the beatles, the greatest music maker of the 20th century.
can you imagine what the music scene during the 1980s would have been like if prince had not been there?
his run of groundbeaking albums were so far ahead of the rest and i remember being excited about what he would release next during that time and im sure there are a lot of fellow fans who know what i mean when i say that.
he is still a fantastic talent today and i will always follow his career but it is not quite the same as it was in the 80s waiting for his next album to appear.

.....hold on to your soul y'all, we got a long way to go.....

there would be major drama. Major drama.
There'd be corny tribute albums.
There'd be unreleased material out the wazoo.
There'd be all these new fans jumping onboard discovering Prince for the first time, since death is the best publicity.

And so on.
And maybe a few more would understand his stance on record companies and their all-round piracy.

Simple. Record companies hyped that up to mtv, the radio stations, etc. A handful of big media companies own all and when there's an opportunity to sell, you milk that puppy for all she's worth.

I was thinking about this the other day. I was thinking that there would be not only a lot of music released to the masses, but a lot of information about his life that we will finally find out about.

I just hope he will be buried FACE DOWN...so mf'ers can kiss his ass!
