Doesn't matter how high he scores, just as long as you enjoy it. He 'll always make sure we can access his music, which is the most important.

It is kind of surprising considering the little bit of publicity or distribution N.E.W.S. has gotten.
Look out David Hasselhoff. lol

So N.E.W.S. in German is spelled N.W.E.S.?
That's interesting!

Ok... I have to get this off my chest. U say N.E.W.S. entered the german charts at 93. Somebody replies by simply saying not bad. Somebody else responds with "also not that good". To have somoene use the old cliche, that it doesnt matter how well it sells, just as long as you enjoy it, is total and utter bullshit. Can somebody here honestly tell me that Prince is happy that his music these days barely lumbers into the Top 100 if he is lucky? The whole point is, Prince may not be neccesarily interested in how much money he makes of his releases anymore, but the whole point of Prince making music is because he wants to be heard. So dont give me this bullshit that 93 is an impressive effort. We are talking about somebody who was once churning out Top Selling Hits, and Albums. I personally love Princes music to this day, but somebody needs to face facts that Prince screwed up by alienating the music industry. Having major label backing is a neccesary evil.

erm, but aren't we talking about N.E.W.S here? Or FRIGGIN' Sign O' The Time part II??? 93 is better than jail.

I guess last years tour has something to do with it. a lot of people that attended these shows aren' t hardcore fans. prince has a good reputation as a live artist, and so a lot of 'casual listeners' came along. and because the shows were terrific, a lot of these guys are looking out for princes music again.

fantastic n.e.w.s. This is what i posted last week:

...something i recognized was that n.e.w.s. is available nearly everywhere in germany. i work for several distribution companys and visit stores every day and i found the cd in most of them this week... hope the dvd will be distributet that well too... much better than TRC...

...it`s like i said. if the npg learns to run their buisnes like others they are still able to sale even such a experimental stuff. the company who sales news did also a lot of promotion (reviews and i heard a 30min radio show too about n.e.w.s. at deutschland radio berlin)

To make it to 93 in Germany must mean that it's available in stores there... I must report that here in Toronto, Canada, I can't find it in any stores yet. So, it ain't gonna go to 93 here, ever! I can't believe this is Prince's new "hometown" and his latest CD is not available. I wonder if they'd buy any copies if he hand-delivered them to the stores?!? Probably not, as he's chosen to follow the path of washed-up, has-been, and this has become abundantly clear to fans and other music consumers. Sorry Prince, but this latest distribution issue is pissing off one of your biggest "hometown" fans. I bet the Aladdin DVD will be equally unavailable next week. Oh well, gotta go, I'm off to eBay to get gouged some more.

N.E.W.S. is distributed in Germany by MP MEDIA GERMANY (mp-media.com).
Around 4 weeks ago there was indeed a listening session in Berlin.
I was lucky enough to get my promotional copy of this great album as the three copies that I have ordered on the earliest possible date have just arrived today!
At least in Germany the album is available everywhere, unlike TRC at reasonable prices around 14 EUR (ca. 16 bucks).
TRC is sold here as an import for around 30 EUR (that´s more than 30 dollars).

But what´s most important, me and my purple friends love the n.e.w. album. music

If you release an album like NEWS into today's environment
than yes, you can be damn lucky if it breaks any chart at
all, no matter who you are. Prince doesn't give a fuck, I
think that much is clear by now. Wether that is a good thing
or not is something I am still not completely convinced off.

Anyway, I still enjoy the groove. Although, some of these
live instrumentals like the nighttown/bataclan/Japan stuff
totally blows all other instrumental jazzy endeavours of
his out of the water.

But what else is new, right.
