Say you found a great picture of Brett Favre celebrating a touchdown pass on a webpage and you wanted to share it with the org big grin this is how you would do it:

You copy the entire url address of the picture you want to use on the page.

For example:

http://justagirl.com/top5..._front.jpg

This is the the link to the picture that I'm going to post.

So then you just simple rap the URL with [/img]
but you don't put the space in the first IMG (I had to so it wouldn't look for an image. After you do this the picture should show up on the page. It's always a good idea to preview the post first just to make sure the picture appeared because some websites disable the ability to see the picture.

http://justagirl.com/top5/brett/images/brett_front.jpg
[/img]

Above is how I did the above picture, but I included the extra space so you could see it. If I took out the space in the first [img] the picture would post again.

As far as using your own pictures you will have to have use your own picture host (web space) if you want to share them with the org.

I probably confused you even more, but hopefully I helped a little.

This is all very well, but what about pictures you have scanned or drawn yourself. How do you get your own space to post your own pictures?

You need to find webspace somewhere yourself. There are plenty of places where you can get cheap / free web space, e.g. Yahoo Geocities etc, just look around.

You can't link geocities photos. They just show up as Xs. Tripod does the same shit!

Really? That's peculiar, it's just HTTP. I'll look into that... anyway there must be some decent sites with free webspace available nowadays no?

I use a site called ranchoweb.com and they charge me 9.95 a year for 1 mb of picture hosting. They allow hotlinking which many of the hosting sites do not.

I looked and looked for a free site, but they all seemed to want some money and this site seemed reliable and cheap.

When I looked into that site I thought found that they would host images for free but they did not allow hotlinking. Are you able to link from the site?

I know what u mean, but u can hotlink when u have changed ur online photoalbums from private albums into public albums. U can do this via the manage tab after logging into ur account. After this change it's just a question of rightclicking on a pic and copy/paste the right link biggrin As a matter of fact I'm using it myself 4 many things...like my profile 4 instance..
