One Nite Alone - Really worth that much?

I know the One Nite Alone Piano/Voice album is hard to come by but is a 'new' one really worth in the region of £400??

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321363148915?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1586.l2649

The seller claims the CD quality version is noticably better sounding than the MP3 version that i have.

Has any one compared the 2?

Would love to know your thoughts.

A pressed cd version of anything is better than a MP3 due to the nature of compressing into a mp3

But regarding the price, it's all down to how much you will pay for it. Some have paid that much which is why it's up for that much. cool

OK thanks. So if playing through a home HIFI would the difference be noticable or does it depend on the type of speakers ect?

I'm hoping that as this is quite a sparce sounding album the difference should be quite apparent but I don't want to splash out close to £50 on a CD if I won't hear the difference!

I paid $120 for mine several years ago.

MP3 compressions sounds usually worse on hifi speakers. It has a lot to do with how much high-end ("treble") the speakers output. It's typically the cymbals in pop / rock / jazz music that may sound worse on MP3 files (sometimes the degration is perfectly noticeable and sounds unnatural).

With many midrange-y speakers you're not going to notice much of a difference though. They're designed to make pretty much everything sound "good", in one sense at least.

edit - removed the comment on ONA, I mixed up the live release with the piano album.

Used. I just saw a "new, unsealed" one where I bought mine, that was going for $525.

I sold an unopened one on ebay a few years back and budding went up to £200(?). I've got another copy that is used and , personally, I hate this album so would snap somebody's hand off for that money again for my other copy...guess done people see it's rarity as the main selling/buying point
