Back in those days I bough each and every Prince item which wasn't in my collection. Even though I already owned The Black album on CD, I wanted a vinyl version. So I bought one in a "music freak" music Store named "Springlevend" in Nijmegen / The Netherlands.

I simply took the item, paid and went home. Believe it or not but took me 2 weeks to open up the sleeve and notice it's a Peach Vinyl version.... Within 15 minutes I drove back to this store, but ofcourse all vinyl versions of were plain black vinyl. The seller didn't know he sold a peach one to me, didn't even knew he had one for sale 2 weeks earlier.

So I assume those Peach versions were added randomly to reseller-orders.

For sure I am the first owner of the item, and am sure it never even touched a turn-table (why would I? I owned the CD already)

SOLD

I know. I was there too but didn't bother to look at the colour of the 2 albums left. 30 min afterwards I spoke to the guy who did buy 2 peach for retailprices....

Springlevend had a batch of them.

This was the start of what ended in getting the site theblackalbum.info

So sad to see specialized stores like this close down (this one many years ago). Springlevend was one of the few dutch stores that really were doing their best to get the more interesting items. There are still 2 other good recordstores in Nijmegen (Waaghals and Kroese) which makes Nijmegen still a good city to buy records. But Springlevend was speciallized in collector items, and esspecially Prince.

I always was curious whether I just made a lucky pick, or that there might have been more or even rarer versions (White?) at the moment I bought mine. But reading your reply I now know there were atleast 2 peach records more.

Jimmy (If I'm correct you know him from college) scored the mentioned two there.

I was so bummed of missing the peach that I called Warners headoffice. Talked to the manager who handled Europian affairs for Prince and Madonna and he was quite keen on conversating with a fan.

In the end he told me that he had no Peach left but something else that he would sent me.

A week afterwards I received a white one with the compliments of WB office (just some days before some Prince gigs in Den Bosch were the existince of the colored vinyls where a collectors discussion).

No,

The most boxes went by 25 per set but for dutch retail I can imagine that some boxes were divided.

I'm already suprised that these pop up in this conversation.

So far we can assume 4 smile
