WANTED - Prince 8 Track Cartridges

Being the sad old bugger that I am, I'm keen to complete my collection of Prince 8 track cartridges.

If any are selling, please could you get in touch via orgnote or email (gavin@uptown.se) with details of the item, condition, price and your location.

I'd be interested to know which Prince albums made it to 8-Track. Also, which one's made it to MiniDisc?

Everything up to SOTT for 8 track (SOTT being the rarest).

As for MiniDisc, I don't think there's any at all due to Prince being on WBS and MiniDisc being a Sony format, however I'm not 100% on that.

Sort of, ATWIAD, Parade & SOTT were releases by Columbia House so they may have been slightly later.

there is also a Purple Rain 8-track manufactured by Columbia House

And I have a 1979 8-track simply called Segway : Jazz Freeque with the Prince song : Crazy You

The later ones were Columbia House ONLY, PR was both WBS & CH (different colour cartridges).

I have For You on 8-track, never looked at the label, but its black so it's a Warner Original, I'm assuming.

I got this a few years ago (still sealed too!)
I like it cuz it's kinda kooky (not to mention that a lot of the songs are split! big grin

I have another in much better quality but haven't got around to scanning it just yet.

Feel free to use the photo's but please just copy the images to the org repository rather than nicking all my bandwidth on my personal site wink

No wonder 8-tracks were so sorely made fun of. . . those tracks are ALL messed up! In order and in way having beginings and conclusions! I realize, the technology limits how much can be on one "track" but. . . jeez.

Maybe I just don't know how those damn things work?

I've never seen Prince on Mini Disc either, other than his appearance on the second Martika album.

HOWEVER, I'm pretty sure I've seen one of his 90s albums on the rather obscure DCC format. It may have been 'Diamonds & Pearls' - I'm unsure.

There's nothing on eBay at the time of writing though, so maybe I'm mistaken: http://search.ebay.co.uk/...prince+dcc
