Mariah to sing Olympic anthem at Athens

The August 2004 issue of Seventeen Magazine (with covergirl Hilary Duff) reports that Mariah is scheduled to sing the Olympic Anthem at the opening ceremonies for the 2004 Olympic Games, which will be held on August 13th in Athens, Greece.
When Mariah and her crew said she is coming back hard they weren't kidding!
The song will featue on her new album

This is in addition to the first sinle which will preimere at the MTV awards in August also

Cool, I hope she's given time for her voice to rest and she's therefore stopped using the whisper voice from Charmbracelet. Also it's nice to see a 2-year break between albums, I hope she'll come back to the table with some new ideas. Even if the album's shit, her voice remains intensely pleasant to listen to.

Personally, I hope she does more songs like "Clown" on the new record. That was an interesting, if brief, experiment for her.

I agree...if no-singing asses like J-Lo and Janet can still have careers...Mariah should have continued success. I hear she's been toying with new ideas and I'm very excited to hear them. It this day and age of thin voices and crap pop dittys...Mariah can be a very much welcomed releif. That is...if she stops the whispering and belts the hell outta a song. With a 2 year break between records and a massive marketing set up....in this celebrated year of comebacks....Mariah could be the queen of comebacks this year! Move over Teena Marie!
Every minute of last night is on my face today....

Well I'm greek and I seriously doubt this. I think we will have a greek artist singing (although I don't know who). Plus Mariah is not really popular here. Anyhow if this was true there would be a lot of talk about it since gossip TV and the tabloids are thriving over here and personally this is the first time I hear that Mariah or any other foreigner for that matter is considered to sing the anthem. I certainly hope it's not true because Mariah would just be an addition of kitch to the whole show
