pop stars that lip sync

Does anybody else have a problem with all of these pop stars that lip sync at their live performances? Personally it drives me nuts. I argue with my girlfriend all the time about this and she feels it's OK to lip sync because they are dancing around so much that they would be to out of breath to sing anyway. I feel that if they call themselves singers they should be singing.
I think they would be better off as back up dancers to real musicians.
People like Britney, Janet, J-Lo are just a bunch of no talent ass clowns pretending to be musicians. What do you think?

I think it sucks when ppl lip sync, but I understand that they want to put on a good show by dancing and everything, and that does make it difficult to sing... I know. But if theyre in shape it shouldnt be too difficult if they modify the moves a little. Janet has always lip synced so I really dont expect much from her, J-Lo cant sing period, so its a must that she lip sync, same for Britney. Those ppl arent artists or singers though. Theyre entertainers and theres a big difference.

well I don't think those people totally lip sync
I believe they have some sort of vocal back tracking that has some parts on it, especially harmonies, so they can do the rest.

I don't think that anyone should lip-sync! I can see having pre-recorded stuff like sound effects etc, but absolutely no lip-syncing during a live concert. Either sing, or get off the stage.

Janet ususally only lip syncs on the really big dance numbers 1e, rythem nation, if, etc. There are alot of songs she actually sings so that doesn't bother me as much . Britney, on the other hand even lip syncs her slow songs when she isn't even dancing and that is just wrong!!!!

Just be cause they are doing dance numbers is no excuse! Prince has been doing both for years! Heel, even Christina Aguilera manages. The backing vocal tracks are just a cover up for weak singers! If it's that hard for them' they should dance a little less and let the back up people do all the work!

Janet and Britney lip sync because they just can't cut it live. Their concerts shouldn't be sold as concerts, but as "two overpriced hours of mime, dance and amateur dramatics". James Brown doesn't lip sync when he plays live, neither does Prince. Both are dancers.

I had a feeling James and P were gonna come up and its true they dont lip sync, but then again u cant compare artists like James and P to ppl like Britney and Janet because its two totally different styles of dancing. Janet and Brit do routines which do take alot out of you but lip syncing is still a no no. Where as P and J just dance whenever theyre really feelin it.

If Milli Vanilli are going to be crucified for lip-syncing, then so should any other artist that does so. Sure, that wasn't their real voices, but their real voices were decent. Far from great, but okay. If more than 90% of the song is a track singing over the artist, then it's stupid for them to even have a concert. That's what MTV is for. I hate the "she/he dances alot, and it's hard to sing and dance at the same time" excuse...ticks me off everytime someone says it. If an artist does not have that great of a vocal range, ie Britney (the majority of her songs are in one note), then that excuse is just stupid. If you actually have to go from one octave to another in a song, then I could somewhat understand. But, like someone said, Christina has danced and sang at the same time and her songs are a lot more diverse in their ranges. It is possible to dance and sing fine at the same time....these singers are just lazy and their fans just accept it.

Well said.

Yea, Christina has an amazing voice. I'm in High School and i think that it's sad that my generation has very few true musicians (like Prince, Stevie Wonder, etc.). I am a huge Tower of Power fan, have you heard them?
