Damita Jo For those of us who didn't listen to the samplers we finally got to listen to it, I got to say Im feeling this album, after hearing love me for a little while i really thought this would just be AFY part 2 but the album is cool. the interludes are really irratating but then i always hate interludes. Even the sex songs aren't as tacky as I expected them to be lol
What did everyone else think ?

What did everyone else think ? I've been listening to it all weekend and I have to admit that it's still growing on me. This is the first time a Janet record had to 'grow' on me. But I do love "My Baby" and "Island Life" which both are potential singles. As for the dance tracks....I was really hoping for some slammin' dance tracks and it seems that couple of them sound to familiar to each other...In particular "Damita Jo" and "Sexhibition". I LOOOOVEEE "Dont Stop" and "R&B Junkie". "R&B Junkie" could've blended just as good on DREAM STREET! All in all...I'm still listening to it and I'm sure by the end of the week I'll be hooked. I love Janet always and forever! Can't wait for all the TV appearences this week!!! Every minute of last night is on my face today....

Huge fan of Janet. Gotta say though, on first listen Damita Jo is kinda dull. It's Janet repeating herself again, going for the same ol' cheesy pop dollar that is best left to the younger generation of girl groups etc. Ah well. I'll give it a few more listens.

Yeah, Dave was funny before the interview; but the interview itself was terrible. I knew that the Superbowl was what was going to be discussed (and so did Janet), but it was 15 minutes of "So, it was really an accident?" and "I don't want to talk about it!".

Yeah...i thought it was dull too. Bought it yesterday and didn't get all the way through it. It just didn't grab me. Maybe it's a grower but i don't even think i can be bothered to listen to it again...

He should have just touched upon the 'Nipplegate' subject for a couple of questions and moved on to more interesting questions about 'DAMITA JO' and Jermaine Dupri as well as her plans for the next year! Janet Jackson's single tanks The gargantuan publicity Janet Jackson received from her Super Bowl overexposure didn't help her latest single, "Just a Little While." The slight, bland tune is Jackson's worst-performing first single off an album in two decades. In less than two months, it's already falling off the Top 40 charts, not even making the top 10. "Our listeners said it wasn't a good song," said Q100 Program Director Dylan Sprague. "We played it every hour-and-a-half for four days, and the feedback was poor." Star94 also spun the song two to three times a day for a few weeks, but it never gained traction. Typically, major artists release a single several weeks ahead of the album in hopes of building radio momentum. But "Just a Little While" flatlined before her album "Damita Jo," due out Tuesday, even made it to the stores. Jackson is going to need a much stronger second single to goose sales. On Amazon.com, which takes advance orders, "Damita Joe" only ranked 85. ----- -all I'm gonna say is cosign. sorry JJ fans. maybe her next single can help things. (I don' t think the leno interview helped much, though.) What a joke. The Clear Channel station here now does this thing where they play the most requested song ever hour. And it always ends up being crap like "Fuck You Right Back"....oh yes...this gem is a response song to the awful "Fuck You I Don't Want You Back". BUt "Just A Little While" is terrible! OK! I think a big part of the problem is that there is no sell through single. Fans are always willing to buy the singles and that is the reason why most of her songs are such big hits. It's as if Virgin is doing everything in order to make this album and the singles do poorly!

i LOVE this cd! i have listened to it at least ten times since midnite! my boyfriend and i were fighting over the discman in the flight home from la! we both really like it. immediately, on first listen, i was wetting my pants! all nite (don't stop), RnB junkie are my two favorites but i really like...no love...every song. the interludes seem rather pointless but they are goofy and funny also. the album is about sex so i guess she was just making light of it and being silly. i think this is a great cd and i hope it doesn't suffer from backlash. remember how madonna's erotica cd was ignored due to her over exposure? erotica was a great cd but peeps just ignored it because they were sick of her.
i hope janet's people know how to handle this.

I have no idea how many times I've listened to this CD but at this rate I will have to buy a second copy...oh to be able to afford the Japanese import.
I just listened to "Slo Love". This sounds an awful lot like something Kylie would have done on either the "Fever" or "Slow" albums. Yep, Janet does a pretty good Kylie song!

I loved 'Just A Little While" from the word go, DALLAS AUSTIN rocks!
I'm also feelin'... 09. Island Life 10. All Nite (Don't Stop) 11. R&B Junkie I think that's the heart of the album right there... "R"...

I gotta say, although the album is fairly bland, Janet has made the transition to modern sounding production a lot better than her brother did with Invincible.
My favourite songs so far: - Strawberry Bounce - Spending Time With You - All Nite - I Want You The second half of the album is a bit dull. Veers from cheesy eurovision-style pop to directionles ballads with none of the tenderness or warmth of stuff from Janet or the Velvet Rope. I kinda think Janet's milked the sex theme as much as possible now, it's really time to sing about something else perhaps... That all said, I like it more than "All For You". PS Is it me or is this Kanye West guy fucking EVERYWHERE?

Picked it up not really expecting much (after seeing Kanye West did some production on this) and I must say I got LESS than I expected. This is easily her weakest album since "Dream Street". There are a few slow jams, that while nothing special, are nice. The uptempo shit just falls flat on it's face. They wasted the funky Herbie sample on "All Nite" by putting such a bad beat behind it. The song "R & B Junkie" might as well just been a remake of "I'm In Love" Jesus, how lazy can you get with samples? "Strawberry Bouce" is that even a song? I see most critics giving it 2 stars and I think that's pretty acurate. The album is even more of a let down after picking up Usher the week before. If you had told me last month, I would be bumpin Usher and disappointed by Janet, I would have said you were crazy. There are so many mixed opinion on this album lol
Its fast becoming one of my favourite janet albums, her vocals seem so much better than AFY. I still do not understand why love me for a little while was chosen as a first single. Most of my friends refuse to buy janets album simply because the first single was so shit, and to make it worse I want You wasn't even on the single (i thought it was going to be a b-side) the single is going to do so badly here (the uk) its £5 and theres only one remix on it lol Hopefully the next single released will do better, especially since Kanye West is getting endless props here at the moment. Only thing is i think it will sound dated rather quickly whereas some of her other albums will never sound dated.

Mixes are being commissioned as I type. The video is being filmed soon.
