Oooops. doh!
The title should have read - A '70s R&B "Slow Jams" Compilation Wishlist.

Somes of these tunes, from my youth, would get played at house parties in NYC (and i'm sure other places) when it was time to "slow drag".
Others are tunes i'd heard later and reminded me of that time period.

However, these tunes can be found on a 6-CD box set called "Can You Dig It? The '70s Soul Experience".

Glad you liked the list. wink

That looks like a tracklist from a series called "Hey Love". They used to advertise it on late night television.

I remember that commercial.

It's the one where one guy asks the other to borrow the record.
He responds with, "Oh no my brother, you've got to get your own!"

No soul on PBS out here on the west coast.
All we've got is "The Women of Rockabilly".

My Music #101: Superstars of
Seventies Soul Live

This sold-out concert, recorded at
the Borgata Ballroom in Atlantic
City, reunites Patti LaBelle, the
Commodores, Maxine Nightingale,
the Trammps, Heatwave, Sister
Sledge, and other legendary
1970s, Motown, R&B, soul, and
disco artists. Musical highlights
include "Lady Marmelade," "Brick
House," "Best of My Love," and
"Disco Inferno."

Maxine Nightingale looked great! As for Sister Sledge, only Joni and Debbie were there. Also saw, Tavares, The Stylistics, The Chi-lites, The Manhattans, (Harold Melvin's) The Bluenotes (no Teddy, but the guy singing lead was really good--but, I wasn't gonna let him make me forget Teddy P!), Yvonne Ellerman, the Emotions.... I might be forgetting a few more. (Would've been nice to see the Sylvers, but that's being greedy.) All in all I really enjoyed it.

Sounds like it was a really good show.
Maybe they'll show it on the left coast at a later date.

I have that boxed set.I love the way it's packaged to look like a collection of 8-track tapes in a case. But I have some interesting thoughts/complaints on this box set...

***The song "The Big Payback" by James Brown features a radio DJ's voice all over it,calling out different cities.Sometimes,he talks right over James' vocals.Wtf is this??

***The song "Sly Slick And Wicked" by the Lost Generation is somehow different than the superior version that appears on the "Soul Hits of the 70s:Didn't It Blow Your Mind" CD Volume 4 (also on Rhino). It doesn't sound as "polished" and it lacks the power of the original version.

***Likewise,"Love Jones" by Brighter Side of Darkness is slightly different than the superior version that appears on "Soul Hits of the 70s: Didn't It Blow Your Mind" Volume 10 (also on Rhino).

***For some strange reason, the last song on this set is "Golden Touch" by Rose Royce, which is hardly a 70s song. It's from 1981!!

Am I the only one who is less-than-totally-satisfied with this box set?

I don't actually have the box set (I just noticed that it was available) so I can't answer your question with any authority.
It does appear that the Rhino releases are giving you the original versions. thumbs up!
Thanks for the warning. Caveat emptor. reading

If you really love 70s soul music, you'd be better off getting the "Soul Hits Of The 70s:Didn't It Blow Your Mind" CDs.I think they have about 20 volumes (I have them all).In addition to the hits, these CDs contain those rare, forgotten gems that you don't see on too many other compilations.Rhino Records is the best label when it comes to the old jams!
