I think they spent way too much time on tributes to Warren Zevon and Luther Vandross. Hell the Beatles tribute was half-assed too! Ringo was classy and funny, Paul was just sad. Sad.

Warren and Luther both got awards because they were either dead or on their way. These are not sentimentality awards but music awards.

Luther's song was sappy and trite. R&B Album of the year? Hardly. Warren Zevon...before he was diagnosed with cancer, nobody gave a shit or even heard of him, since Werewolves of London...if anything.

Sure it's a nice gesture, but they shouldn't get awards if the music isn't good or at best popular. It's a shame Luther Vandross is unhealthy, nothing against him, but how relevant has he been and who the hell cares about his sappy non-soul anymore? Luther was safe soul...kinda like Will Smith is safe rap. Barry White deserved a better tribute than having his picture flashed for a second..


3 and a half hours and they can't ait half the awards presented.


If any recently deceased musician deserved a tribute it was Geroge Harrison.
