I like Clouser's stuff and Lohner did some really great remixes the last couple of years and if those are an indication of what the album's gonna be like than it's all good...

Pretty Hate Machine is one of the top 5 rock albums of all time. They will never repeat. Just won't happen. I refused to buy The Fragile because after a while I just realized PHM just couldnt be surpassed.

The Fragile could have been a close second to PHM, had it been pared down to one disc. Just too much stuff that doesn't go anywhere. If Trent had removed some of the dead-weight, that disc could have been KILLER, since it has some truly fantastic stuff on it.

I am curious about "Bleedthrough". If Clouser has an expanded role, that bodes well. Just have to see...

I would *LOVE* it if Trent & Co. veered away from the angsty-decay fixation of the previous albums and went into some kinda bizarro new territory that folks wouldn't expect...like maybe a perved-out Brian Wilson trip a la Psychic TV, or something cold and synthetic with cracks of the familiar NIN rage peeking through the cracks...the idea of Trent becoming a one-note Sally is kind of a bummer...

Filter is nice but sometimes (well, most times) too commercial. Yet I love the remixes and solo work of Chris Vrenna (second solo effort released soon - again featuring a David Sylvian collaboration). Also, Pigface has a great variety I haven't explored in detail yet... and The Damage Manual (aka Jah Wobble, Chris Connelly, Geordie Walker, Martin Atkins) can be really mindblowing. Discovered their first EP by pure coincidence.

But a new NIN album is definitely something to look forward to.

Since industrial music is kinda dead and buried, they'd need to put a new twist on his sound and come out with something fresh. They're a talented group so I'm sure they can pull something off.

When The Downward Spiral came out one reviewer wrote "If Ministry is chrome, then Nine Inch Nails is rust." That made me go and buy it without even listening to it first. It was a great decision. Hearing it straight through for the first time at home blew me away. I still think it´s their/his best album.

For anyone interested, these are supposedly titles of 3 songs on the new album:

"The Line Begins To Blur",
"Everyday Is Exactly The Same"
"My Dead Friend".

Eh, NIN is done...DONE. The Downward Spiral sucked, actually everything but Pretty Hate Machine and Broken sucked. Trent needs to do something different now.
