Not only do I love lists, but a list on JB is "too cool". Here goes:
  • THIS IS A MAN'S WORLD
  • I FEEL GOOD
  • PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE
  • PAPA'S GOT A BRAND NEW BAG
  • LICKIN' STICK
  • SEX MACHINE
  • MONEY WONT CHANGE U
  • SUPER BADD
  • DOIN' IT 2 DEATH
  • GIVE IT UP OR TURN IT LOOSE
  • I GOT THE FEELIN'
  • GET UP OFF THAT THANG
  • COLD SWEAT
  • HOT PANTS
  • IT'S TOO FUNKY IN HERE
  • TRY ME
  • GONNA HAVE A FUNKY GOOD TIME
  • GET ON THE GOOD FOOT
  • PRISONER OF LOVE
  • GEORGIA ON MY MIND
Youngca, I have 2 tell u that the album u suggested on the "other" JB thread, "DOIN' IT 2 DEATH"...that I couldnt locate? I found I had the SINGLE song on my CD "Collections Edition". It is indeed cool. Just off the top of my head...

oh b4 i forget...props to these Jb sidemen who made JB better than i IS (and who got fined by him alot!)

first the brothas who passed on to the next world:
guitarist Jimmy CHANK Nolen (his signature lick on
papa's got a brand new bag probably influenced
prince,jesse,nile ridgers,etc etc...

st clair pinkney...was with JB forever before his death.
30 plus years...

and these cats:melvin & maceo parker...jabo starks,,,
clyde stubbenfield...clayton fillyau (original early 60's
funk drummer extraodianne...check him out on live at the
APOllo 1962-63 ) pee wee ellis...fred wesley...bobby byrd...bobby was the one who kept a young JB from going back
in JAIl and it was his gospel group JB joined that turned
into the famous flames...

of course JB took over the group and made Bobby his 'second
in command"

danny ray...still tellin' us how BAD jb is..
(think about this prince & time fans...danny ray is the role
JEROME played in the TIME and with prince in cherry moon!)

the sistahs...sugar pie de santo...tammy terrell (yep she dated james back in the early 60's!) marva whitney..
lynn collins...vicki anderson byrd (the best lady singer
JB ever had)

again JB is super bad but contrary to his STORY he didn't do
it alone.

everybody i named probably got fined dozens of times by JB!

and took it because they Knew he was SPECIAL.

2 more Jb classics: i don't mind & maybe the last time...

Dont forget Martha High.
She was his singer for more than 30 years before she left the band in 1998 to join Maceo.
She sang background on all 70s albums and even recorded a duet of "Summertime" on "Mutha Nature" (1977).

I have a reissue of some of Marva Whitney's work produced by JB, and it's one of my favorites - she had an energy on that album that you just can't get anywhere else.

She was good. Her live-album is my favorite.
But I prefer Vicki and Lyn.

Yeah, and Prince's version sucks big time.

I prefer JBs first cut of that tune, the one with the fuzz guitars.
