Old School R&B Song Of The Day{8/13/03}....Vesta-Sweet Sweet Love

I really enjoyed the debut album from the powerful vocalist that is Vesta Williams. I thought her debut record Vesta was excellent However, this one is from her followup record Vesta 4 U{she dropped her last name on her second album}. This mellow mid tempo jam was off the hook from back in 1988. I wished she had recorded more albums. The big hit off this album was "Congratulations" which went to number #1 on the R&B chart and crossed over on the pop charts. But this one was MY jam.

Great late 80's r&b!!!

Enjoy

I love her 1986 debut album, especially the singles "Once Bitten,Twice Shy" (sounds like a Jam and Lewis production, doesn't it?) and "Don't You Blow A Good Thing".I still have that vinyl album somewhere in my crates.

The second album was good too,but I never bought it."Sweet Sweet Love" is a beautiful song though.Remember the video, with Vesta running along the beach to her man? She's a really good singer. What's she up to these days?

There were several songs off the debut record that sounded like Jam And Lewis production numbers..."Something About You" and "Once Bitten Twice Shy"{yep that one was my jam too}. I also love "Don't You Blow A Good Thing{you can really hear the Chaka Khan influence vocally on this track}. Also the slow numbers on this one were excellent as well. I wished I had this one on CD.

Besides knowing that she lost that weight and got fine..and learning that she released an album in the 90's{didn't know about that one},don't know much about what she's been up to.
Remember seeing her as a judge on a couple of talent shows on the tube.

back in the day, on the last arsenio hall show, they were going thru the crowd and there was this singer there. her name was vesta and they asked her to sing something real quick. all she did was some vocal thing--no words. it was enough for me. i asked a friend about her and she said yes, get something from her. i went out and found her latest album. vesta: everything-n-more. it is from 1993. it's really good. she co-wrote half the album. so good has a prince sound in the background. like something from my name is prince or the like. outstanding is just that. the album also has 2 songs with brian mcknight. and yes, she does show some chaka influence. vesta, vesta that. wow, girl can sing.
