50 worst artists in music history

Oh the Bowie and Jamiroquai fans here won't like this:

Mick Jagger has been named alongside Michael Bolton and Celine Dion as one of the 50 worst artists in music history.

Paul Oakenfold, Bob Geldof and cult band The Doors also made the list compiled by US music magazine Blender.

It ranked Jagger at number 13, mocking the Rolling Stones frontman's solo ventures as worse than something produced by a "tone deaf six-year-old".

David Bowie's ill-conceived rock band Tin Machine fared even worse, listed at number 12, and described simply as "really, really bad".

Jamiroquai's Jay Kay was on the list, named as the 25th worst music artist of all time, and dubbed "the white, talentless Stevie Wonder".

The magazine rated Bob Geldof's solo efforts at number 39, saying he "should have stuck to saving the planet", while Mike Rutherford's group Mike and the Mechanics was listed at 43.

Kenny G, Vanilla Ice and Michael Bolton all made the top 10, edging out Celine Dion who was ranked at number 26.

The Doors were named at number 37, with the magazine criticising singer Jim Morrison for inflicting his "terminally adolescent views on the wider world".

Rap-rock duo Insane Clown Posse were named the worst music artists ever by Blender.

The pair are best known for an ongoing feud with Eminem and for once asking Sharon Osbourne to "buff my pickle" on the Howard Stern radio show.

Blender's editor, Andy Pemberton, said: "If I were any of these groups, I would be angry about making the list - but they should be better. It's their fault they're on it."

How the hell did Arrested Development get put on this s* list? Any group that was the harbinger for such a talent as Dionne Farris can never be sh*ed on. That's funny, the Spice Girls are nowhere to be found on this list, but a group that sings about institutionalized oppression ("Tennessee") or pays homage to the prolific Sly & The Family Stone ("People Everyday") are sh*ed on? Right.

cop Surely they jest.

Yknow, if Moonbeam was on the Blender staff, The Beatles might have made the cut. lol

I wholeheartedly agree with their number one choice:
1. Insane Clown Posse

Good God, I thought I was the only person who saw them as a total gimmick.

hey, it's not their fault that some stuck up people/person who thinks they know everything about music (which they don't) decided to put together yet another stupid vh1-like list.
I really think that all these "best" & "worst" lists are really irrelevant. It's all a matter of opinion/taste.
I find Andy's first sentence to be very stupid---like Blender magazine's opinion is sooo important that these artists should just fall apart for making the list rolleyes
If I were on this list I certainly wouldn't shed any tears, anyone who does needs to get serious help.

What a bunch of bullshit!! No J-Lo, no Ashanti, no Britney Spears, no Justin Timberlake, no most of the top ten hip hop acts of the last decade. Give me a fuckin' break. I can think of fifty people off the top of my head that worse that anyone on that list, including ICP.

Gimme a break...This list is some major B.S. ICP may be the worst band on the planet, but they did something that none of the 50 BEST artists have done--start one of the most successful independent record labels in America. Read the facts, folks. Fox 2 Detroit even did a three-part series on ICP and Psychopathic Records. So they may suck...but they're RICH suckers. So buff MY pickle!!

Oh, one more thing...Jagger's last solo record "Goddess in the Doorway" received four-and-a-half stars in Rolling Stone, and was one of the best CDs I heard in 2001. It was better than the "Rainbow Children" (which I bought on the same day).

I can't believe this list. What's really vile about the whole thing is that Latoya got No. 11 - wouldn't ya think she'd be No. 1?!!!

Half of the people on that list don't even need to be on it and besides, who really gives a rat's ass what this guy thinks anyway, most of those people make way more money than his sorry ass anyway.

Just the fact that Latoya was No. 11 just shows this guy has no taste in music at all.

And 'Color Me Badd' was not bad at all EITHER.

But everyone has their own opinion of who they like and don't like, but if you're talking about the THE WORST, these people do not belong on that list. There are way 'worst' artists than these people out there.

Some of you guys are taking this list too seriously. Any list of this ilk is designed to get people to vehemently oppose some people on it - that's what gives the publication or tv show more pr/ratings. They're always controversial by design.

there lies the problem! they were a gimmick! they knew they were. the only people that didnt were the 15 year olds that loved the shit.

i will say, their new album is one of the worst ever released. it is in my top 5 worst albums ever made.

but, everything from Great Melinko (the album that got them noticed) and before is awsome. they dumped their producer Mike Clark and everything went to shit. Mike Clark made some of the greatest beats of all time on their albums, the production was top notch.

they were always goofy and didnt care. they were always stupid. they always made shit that didnt make sense. but they made an entire concept of albums that worked off of each other into reality. each album was a continuation of the last until the last one. it was ingenious.

they never took themselves seriously, and nobody else should either. that is why them being number 1 is a joke.

another funny tidbit...
when Blender reviewed their last album "The Wraith" they gave it 3/4 stars saying it was "great for the genre". A couple months later they are the worst band with the worst album? 3 stars isnt bad for the worst ever. they need to check their editing next time.
