Vibe on Hail to the Thief? (new radiohead)

Out next week. Any1 heard anything? I read they said it's a sequel 2 "OK Computer". That sounds ominous, kinda like P's comments pre-Rave...

It sounds very little like OK Computer. It's more song based than the last two albums but still very experimental.

I like it very much.

I have a "pre-release" version of this CD . . . it's very good. It's more song-based (perhaps that is why they compare it to OK Computer) but musically it's closer to Kid A or Amnesiac.

At first listen, I thought this CD was all over the place and didn't have an album feel. After a few listens it started coming together.

I don't feel bad about hearing this CD before it was finished, since I will be buying the official one when it's available.

Yeah. Apart from Pablo Honey which is pretty lame. In fact, I can't remember the last time I played it!

Am I the only person on earth who finds Radiohead totally overrated, boring and useless garbage? I have Pablo Honey, OK Computer and Amnesiac and I just find it lame. I can only take so much of Thom Yorke's whining.

I like Muse better. They are what Radiohead wishes they sounded like.

Anxiety

I heard a couple of the advance tracks, and it doesn't sound like they're covering any new ground, but I really enjoyed what I heard. Until we can rid the world of crappy blingsta rap and fake rap metal, we need bands like Radiohead.

You can also hear it on mtv.com in its entirety. I've listened to it a couple times.

I agree with what Anxiety said--it's not the world's greatest music, but I like it for when I am in a certain mood, and it's a hell of a lot better than a lot of the crap out there right now.

They could have easily called this album "Subjection".

Radiohead is a wonderful presence in music right now. Compare it to MTV-friendly shit like System Of A Down and Chevelle, and maybe it will be a little easier to appreciate their efforts.

I think most of the enthusiasm over each new Radiohead album is largely fan-driven, not pre-fabricated by the record label. They have no choice but to go with the flow. That's a sign of some damn good music occuring.

KidA was a brilliant and concise album that grabbed me when it dropped because I was playing around with generative art software at the time of its release. Amnesiac was a few leftover flashes of brilliance, padded with worthless crap. I almost wish it was never released.

Hail To The Theif isn't the opus that OK Computer was. I think the only similarity is that it's more melody driven than Amnesiac and less haptic and (sometimes) absurd.

"There There" was blasted over loud speakers in between DJ Shadow and Public Enemy at the Foo Fighters concert I went to last week. It sounded amazing. I'm really looking forward to this album.

So you don't have The Bends? If that is the case, then you are not entitled to give a judgement on Radiohead!
