Maxwell re-releasing Embrya on white vinyl

Maxwell will re-release Embrya, his beautiful follow-up to his Urban Hang Suite debut, on a double-disk white vinyl set complete with new photos inside. September 28, 2018 is the date. The pre-order $34.98.

It's interesting to see that the hidden track before the first track is being resequenced on this set to the last track. (You can't easily hide a track on vinyl.) For those that don't know, there was a hidden track before track one. There was a hint in the track listing as "00: Gestation: Mythos". You could easily find the track by pushing play on your CD player, then holding down the backward scan button to scan backward into the hidden track. It was around 3:12. It was the sounds of thick bubbles, breathing, multiple overlaid voices forward and backward, liquid noises, and some instrumentations. For digital downloads, it's tracked as track 1. I found it early on quite by accident, so it has always been part of the whole listening experience for me. It's mentioned below:

Details from the site:

100 fans who order the vinyl will be randomly selected to receive an autographed copy!

The release will include a 2-LP white vinyl package and a new 12-page booklet featuring unseen photos from the original Embryaphotoshoot shot by Mario Sorrenti. The audio has been newly re-mastered by Maxwell and Stuart Matthewman, who has worked with Maxwell for over 20 years and who mixed and co-produced the album in 1998. Additionally, it has been re-sequenced, moving the original opening track to the end.

Embrya, which was originally released in 1998, reached #2 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and #3 on the Billboard 200 and went Certified platinum. It also garnered Maxwell a GRAMMY Award nomination for best R&B album. The album remains an integral chapter in Maxwell’s career canon. He switched up from the jazzier leanings of Urban Hang Suite to stronger basslines, lush strings, electronic beats and more pulsating beats and grooves versus melodies—with Hawaiian guitar riffs and Latin accents thrown in for good measure. And whereas the retro-souled Suite’s concept revolved around romance, Embrya takes the musical discussion to the next level: the gestation of love and spirituality.

Please note - this item is available for pre-order and will ship on or around 9/26/2018.

That´s good news but I wish they´d release it as a CD, too.

Embrya is such a beautiful, timeless and soothing album. Very trippy and peaceful.

I think Urban Hang Suite and Embrya are two masterpieces. They both still sound fresh and mature to me, and they truly have an album feel to them.

Those two will always be my favorite Maxwell albums.

Great concepts, great music.

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"
