This album was pointless. U can never improve on ABBA so don't bother.

Definitely pointless, definitely fun. I don't think she set out to "improve" on the tracks, just to add a little "Cher flair". For me, Abba tunes only make me think of Muriel's Wedding. Waterloo and the SOS video are hilarious!

^It's shaping up to be her highest charting album, so the negative opinions mean nothing.

Cher knows her fanbase and with the success of the "Mamma Mia" movie she starred in, this was a no brainer.

Some of the previous posters act like every album has to mean something. No hon, sometimes music is just music to have fun with.

To Nick's point, it is shaping up to be her highest charting album to date. And it's not even about the fanbase (other than the fact that they are probably Abba fans as well so they expect a certain level of truism), because Cher noted just how much she loved Abba songs, and sort of rediscovered her love of them while doing Mamma Mia. I don't think she was out to do some folksy-Joni-meets-Metallica inspired cover album. The album is not about improving on Abba. It's about the love of the songs.

And to ride the wave of Mamma Mia 2 is pretty obvious. Good move.

For me, Cher singing "Fernando" (the only song produced by Abba's Benny whathisname) is just heaven. Her voice on that melody is lovely. And it was never too much of a favorite before I saw her singing it in a movie clip.

Such a fun record.

This experience will cover courtship, sex, commitment, fetishes, loneliness, vindication, love, and hate.

The album launches with 2018’s biggest sales week for a pop album by a woman.

Cher’s new album Dancing Queen debuts at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, tying for the diva’s highest-charting solo album ever. It also earns the biggest sales week of 2018 for a pop album by a woman, and Cher’s largest sales week since Nielsen Music began electronically tracking music sales in 1991.
