a fun fact: the song "I Wanna Sex You Up" was turned down by three different R&B acts: Keith Sweat,Bell Biv Devoe and Christopher Williams.

If ever a band became has beens so quickly, these guys are it. To think that between mid 1991 and early 1992 I thought they were great, even buying a copy of CMB and rocking it. Then I realised they were a marketing gimmick. Each member seemed to represent a different part of American society - Sam Watters the waspy white boy, Michael Bolton wannabe. Mark Calderon clearly the smouldering Latina stud, Kevin the soulful and hype black dude and Bryan Abrams as the suave Jewish lead singer (Looking at him now I think he is more Garth Brooks than Josh Groban).

.

This group was designed to grab fans of pop, latina music, rap and R&B and countrty music altogether and they got 4 mismatched guys singing some lame watered down poppy R&B cuts with some fairly decent acapella harmonies and good beats. They were a novelty with a limited shlef life, but lets face it - I wanna sex you up, was a really good song and All 4 Love was the right side of cheesy and I ador me amore was decent balladry.

And yet that "Vanilla Ice" went even further off the rails than the real Vanilla Ice. This photo though makes them look so dated, the barely 1990s fashion (More late 80s looking) and matt finish make it look sad and dated. Plus those Dwayne Wayne glasses do not suit Vanilla (OOPS - Brian). lol

We ran into those guys once in an elevator. It was the 90's and they were real popular. Except, maybe not so much with my wife.

Someone else asked, "Who were those guys?" and my wife said, "They're a boy band called "Treat Me Bad".

Listen to the second album from start to finish sometime. While still dipping into the schmaltz occasionally, I think it shows a lot of growth. A good 60%-70% of that album I can still listen to anytime.

Color Me Badd were first marketed as bubblegum pop on release (which made plenty of people a lot of money). That changed on the second album. The cover art, spoken word intro and the Time And Chance track set a diferent tone, even though the album itself is fun enough and pretty solid.

People will knock them all they like, but I think they were a good group. Certainly no worse than Boyz II Men and countless other all-boy & all-girl groups foist on the masses.

I remember Bryan being called Snow (Informer) and Kevin was Milli Vanilli.

For 75 years straight, the #1 genre in music, selling wise, was rock n' roll worldwide. Last year (2017) in June, it got de-crowned by hip hop. Hip hop is the #1 genre. It's hip hop - rock - country - pop or pop - country. ~ Pras

SO...according to this message board from about 4/5 years ago, the dude has been arrested or accused of domestic violence at least 8 but more than 10 times. Also a little bit of parental neglect, and the guy WAS also FAT **BEFORE** the group, but was dieted to a more attractive weight.

Numerous links on that old board and there's a wonderful story about him showing up to court pushing a walker in his DV appearance. (But also RUNNING up stairs when he believed nobody was looking)

Helluva guy apparently
