 Admitting Michael was a very gifted writer and arranger doesnt make Prince any less talented. Why fans feel threatened (no pun intended) is beyond my understanding. It's not 1984 anymore.

Look at it this way, if literally everybody had Prince's skill set, Prince wouldn't be that special but him being one of a very very few to be a jack of all trades in music is what helped make him stand out. Likewise with Michael. Nobody would complain if there were more musicians like Prince skill-wise but if there were, that would bring down the uniqueness and variety by a some hairs.
Bottom line, there's no need for Michael to be like Prince. He was excellent as a singer and a dancer but that doesn't mean That's all he had to offer and people who still act like MJ never wrote any of his own music come off as insecure, arrogant and flat out ignorant. You may not be a fan of the guy but the dude was more talented than what we've even seen. However, that takes absolutely nothing away from the monstrous amount of talent Prince had.
1984 was perfect the way it was with the greatest dancer in the world and biggest rock star on the planet both on top simultaneously. I'd hate to imagine that year any way other than that. [Edited 4/1/18 10:34am] |

Exactly. I’ve never understood why Prince fans feel so “threatened” by Michael or Michael’s fans. The bottomline is that I and many other MJ fans have ever felt threatened by Prince or his talent or legacy. I wonder why we don’t feel threatened but Prince fans do. No one cares if you like Michael or not, it’s not going to change Michael’s legacy or fans’ minds. [Edited 4/1/18 23:14pm] |
