Beethoven & Prince

Imagine if artists stopped performing Beethoven's work after he died. Maybe it was because Beethoven didn't want anyone to perform his music. Or perhaps it was because his rabid fans trashed other renditions as "unacceptable." If this were the case, would anyone perform Beethoven today? Nearly 200 years later? I think during Prince's career he oftentimes sabotaged himself. In his attempt to protect his music he sometimes suffocated it. Even though Prince was an internet pioneer, He initially refused to use social media, youtube, etc. I am not an artist. But art is meant to be free. Not in value or without compsenation. But it's meant to be shared openly with others. It's intentions are to inspire or change minds and hearts. It is not solely a commercial endeavor. In the next 200 years people will cover Prince's music. That's a good thing. Some of the covers we will like. Some will will hate. After all, Prince did covers. And Prince also has been inspired by others. So please don;t hate me for saying as a fan. Free (release) the music. Allow much more of Prince's music to be played on Youtube. It will only create more fans and supporters. My 2 cents. Peace & B wild...
