Some of my favorite performers from these shows:

*Evelyn Champagne King----GREAT performer! She has so much energy onstage.Voice sounds excellent.Has a great sense of humor, too smile

*Zapp---they were the headliner at our oldies show last year and they kicked ass! They put on a dazzling,funk-filled show.

*Midnight Star----They are headlining this years' show that I am attending and I can't wait to see them again.

Damn now here are some intriqing bills for sure. Admittedly so, I don't get to many gigs nowadays. If P-funk comes around I'll go see them. What I'm most interested in is what personnel are still rolling within these bands.

Here's where it gets tricky biggrin in many of these groups, they have new members to replace someone who left the group, but it's always at least one or two original members still in the group. In some cases, there is some bad blood between members,so a lead singer might tour with all new members (Russell Thompkins Jr. and the New Stylistics, for example). This is also the case with the Mary Jane Girls.JoJo is on bad terms with the original members so when she plays these shows, she bills herself as "JoJo of the Mary Jane Girls",with two other (unknown) ladies.Confusing, yes (lol) but I always have a great time, regardless.

here's footage that someone took from a show that I was at.It's JoJo of the Mary Jane Girls performing "All Night Long".Look closely, she has a very short dress on and had to keep pulling it down biggrin she joked "I'm having my own wardrobe malfunction tonight",lol.

Damn this is the best of the 80's right here. I'm interested to see how the Barkays fare now that Larry Dodson retired in December and passed the mic to a local Memphis singer named Chris J. Larry said he's still gonna be involved with the Barkays behind the scenes and plan to design a new stage show for the band for 2018. He probably booked this concert. Him and his wife has had a booking agency for a few years now.

This show was produced probably booked before Keith Wilder's death last year.
I'd be very surprised to see this go on without him. Rod Temperton had been retired from Heatwave since the 80's.

Shame they don't bring the shows over to the UK. Surprised no EJ Johnson/Enchantment on the bill though. Would definitely like to see the majority of these groups and singers especially Zapp.

Yes, Keith succumbed to death last fall and Rod departed the band a very long time ago. Does the current configuration of Heatwave feature any original members?

I know the original drummer had been touring with Keith Wilder for quite a few years but

with Keith gone and without Johnny there is no other original lead singer for the band.

Anything Heatwave now would be a farce. The only other way they could pull it off is if

somehow JD Nichols abruptly leave the Commodores to come back to Heatwave as he was

brought in to replace Johnny Wilder after Wilder's tragic car accident.

One interesting thing about this show.It features Tierra and The Intruders smile As you know,Tierra had a major hit in 1980 with an excellent remake of the Intruders' "Together".I wonder if they'll toss a coin to decide who gets to sing it? LOL
