Jackie Shane

Anyone else here hip to the Jackie Shane story and recently released box Any Other Way? She was asked to join Funkadelic about 1972 when they were based out of Toronto so I had to check it out.
I was rewarded with a gutsy, soul performance that brought shades of Otis Redding and James Brown. Remarkable story too.

I liked Any Other Way.

NUMERO did a great job with that re-release. The music is okay. Nothing to rave about, she was no Betty Davis but really cool to have all her singles compiled in one place. Possibly the first transgender artist of that time.

Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.
