I've seen Ready For The World twice in My lifetime (Once in Toronto, Ontario Canada & once in Buffalo, NY). And both times They threw DOWN!!! I can count 3 things that happened to Ready For The World:
1)TROOP came out & CHANGED THE CURL GAME!! Had Negroes gettin' "Gumby Curls" & "Hi-Top Fade Curls"!!! Both Ready For The World & Full Force did as such!!! 2)They were successfully lumped in w/"The Minneapolis Sound". REMEMBER-when Sheila E. first heard "Oh Sheila", She REALLY THOUGHT Prince recorded it!!! But THEN They went "New Jack Swing", and it wasn't as successful..... and, 3)Other than Prince's Band & The Time, Ready For The World were a force 2 b reckoned with on Stage......and then..............ALONG CAME MINT CONDITION!!!!
Sidebar: There is a Show in Tacoma, WA next month, w/Club Nouveau, Troop & Ready For The World. I think I'm gonna go check it out!!!

SoulAlive said: the last song I heard from RFTW was "Straight Down To Business",their 1991 single. You don't remember the followup single Can He Do It Like This? That was vintage RFTW and not that New Jack Shit they were trying to pull off. That song got a lot of Airplay in my area. That's the last single by them I liked. I thought the Straight Down to Businesd album was pretty much a bust but Can He Do It Like This salvaged it. Don't laugh at my funk

No doubt I believe they threw down back in the day. I hate I missed them back in May in Charlotte at the Soul Food festival with Cameo and S.O.S I won't front I could tolerate RFTW curls more than I could those fucked up hairstyles Troop used to wear. Don't laugh at my funk

I wonder why the song "Do You Get Enough" from their second album wasn't released as a single. It got alot of airplay here in the Bay Area...would have been a perfect single.

Still have this cassette . Some real daggers on this that helped me get through those turbulent teen years when love was new and the cuts were deep! I like all of the songs on the eponymous rekkid.

About a week ago, I played Bootsy Collins' "Id Rather Be With You" for a co-worker...she and I had previous conversations about sampling in hip hop, and I was showing her that Dr. Dre really didnt do much when he sampled Bootsy for NWA's "Id Rather Fuck You". She made a comment about all of the old music I have on my phone, "You have all the Prince stuff, blah, blah, blah...do you have that one Prince song...something about a girl named Sheila?" I immediately started naming Sheila E songs...she said, "No...I think it's called 'Oh Sheila'...they play it on the oldies station all the time." I almost fell out of my chair! I said, "That aint Prince!" and she argued with me...had to google RFTW to show her...I had a good laugh... Make it so, Number One...

It's okay but gets lost in the 90's r&b bedoom schtick every male r&b artist was doing at the time. When I worked as a dishwasher my co worker played that damn album so much I hid it one day. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
