Lake Minnetonka Down Under

Former Orger Hatman, aka Adam R., is an accomplished jazz musician. He's also a huge Prince fan like the rest of us. He lives in Australia.

Last year he started a new grou called Lake Minnetonka. They've done a couple of covers of The Family & Madhouse, as well as original material like "Out There Bout There", "Heavy Bread", and "Heckabuff". The group is incredibly skilled musicians, and they are all well versed on jazz, and Minneapolis funk.

They've played with Larry Graham and GCS, and Dr. Fink a couple of times. Dr. Fink even said, "If you ever wondered where Madhouse went - they're living under the guise of Lake Minnetonka". They also recorded a song, "Clipnosis" with Dr. Fink on keys, and Sonny T. on bass (the vid is on their YouTube), recorded mostly at Dr. Fink's StarVu home studio.

Here's an introduction sort of video of them. But look for them on Bandcamp. They cover "Mutiny" and Madhouse's "Ten" on This is Lake Minnetonka. The cover artwork for that album might job your memory a bit, too about something Prince related.

I really think with a bit more exposure, Prince would have invited them to play at Paisley Park sometime. They're that good, IMO.
