Xscape Announces Reunion

Xscape is comin’ right back at ‘cha.

Nineteen years after the group’s last album Traces of My Lipstick, LaTocha Scott, Tamika Scott, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, and Kandi Burruss have announced the crew’s revival. “It’s official,” Tocha wrote on Instagram. “Xscape is Back. Thanks to all of our fans for your prayers & your loyalty.”

Peers are already celebrating the group’s reunion. “Pretty dope to hear the women of Xscape say they’re going to work and tour again,” said Monica. “It’s getting real out here again and I love it.”

Xscape rose to prominence with their 1993 debut, Hummin’ Comin’ at ‘Cha. In total, they’ve released three albums, including Off the Hook and Traces of My Lipstick. Their hits include “Just Kickin’ It,” “Understanding,” “The Arms of the One Who Loves You,” “My Little Secret,” “Feels So Good,” and “Who Can I Run To.”

But bad blood kept Xscape from reuniting over the years. In 2013, Kandi revealed that she was upset with Tamika for spreading rumors that she’d had sex with Jermaine Dupri’s father Michael Mauldin. “To this day now, I have to see people try to say that I had sex with Jermaine’s father,” Burruss told V-103 at the time. “She said that just to make me look bad to people. She came back to apologize to me, but she never apologized in public…It’s not true. It was a flat-out lie. When people do stuff to try to damage you or bring you down to the public, that’s hateful.”

Today, however, the group is turning the page. According to Kandi, the hatchet was buried after a conversation that took place on Monday (Feb. 27). “It was emotional, but then we had a real conversation, which we haven’t had in a long time,” she said. “I was able to let it go after that.”

Tamika added: “Now, we grown. We gon’ let the bygones be bygones. It’s the last time you will hear this. Anything after this is going to be our legacy and what we doing next.”

The group is reunited, but nothing new has been confirmed. “We’ve been approached about a lot of different opportunities,” said Kandi. “I don’t like to confirm anything until the ink dries, but I definitely can say that I am looking forward to performing again with my group members.”

Tocha concurred. “We definitely have different offers on the table,” she said. “We’re just taking our time to make sure that we have everything right and in order, but you guys will see us perform again. That’s for sure.”

Great news. They are better as a unit. Neither member are marketable as a solo

artist but they pack quite a punch as one. I wish them luck.

Exactly. nod And beside, Kandi is one-hit wonder as a solo artist. But she is better as a songwriter for other acts.

Again? Didn't they out out some singles a few years back like that Wassup Wassup that just kinda fizzled...? I mean hopefully it'll be like meaningful, grown material, good for them for not hating each other"

They had a song on the ATL soundtrack or something a dozen years ago. I wonder what they decided on for the manager. That was the biggest problem to them coming together.

People forget how good the 90s were. The songs were commercial but musically interesting. People actually had talent, imagine that.

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

Xscape is one of the best harmonizing groups and they had great songs.

meh...other than the big faced one, these girls were barely average singers...if their gonna come back for 15 more minutes of fame, i'd rather they just release a sextape featuring Kandi Burruss and/or T.I.'s rebuilt wife...

maybe they should talk to other 90s girl groups about doing some type of big tour together.

How about TLC,En Vogue,SWV,Xscape...."The 90s R&B Girl Group Tour 2017" biggrin

lol

Don't forget to tell Kandi to bring Porsha and Cynthia Bailey to the sextape.

Seriously their second album Off The Hook was dope. The only criticism is

all the damn songs were barely 3 minutes long in true Jermaine Dupri fashion.

True, they weren't singers.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I'm taking bets that they will last longer than the Time/Original 7
did. razz
I like both Off The Hook and Traces of My Lipstick.
These ladies have 3 albums that quietly went Platinum.
It's amazing that there not spoken in the same breath with TLC
and SWV.

If Tiny & T.I. are still calling it quits how is Tiny gonna keep it together while Lip-syncing in the background?

Kandi probably don't need this reunion now that she's grabbing Ed Sheeran dough.

Make no mistake about it, Kandi wants to Sing, Tour and Sing and Tour...We all know her strong suit is writing/Producing...Her singing voice is aggravating...When she sings you want the song to end very fast...They sound Amazing as a group...
