look, clown...if you're looking to start an exclusive Bruno Mars ass-kiss session, go buy a domain and set up shop there and i'll conveniently avoid it...but if its full support for Bruno that you desire, you're never gonna find it on a Prince site...in effect, that makes YOU the troll....

Hmm . . .

He certainly studied the blueprint from the 80s and such, but I do not think this song is "pure R&B
perfection." It just really made me want to go listen to some Mtume and Whodini and Ready For The
World and The Deele.

But I also don't think it sounds like hot gar-bohj either.

It's perfection, it may be my favorite song in the album.

he probably did the same thing before recording this record lol

pulled out a shelve of records, listened to them to the T, then interpolated them by switching melodes here and there so he won't be sued

If this song were performed by one of the old RnB groups you would think it was great.

I would love it if some of the RnB groups today would do this type of music but they keep doing that stupid trap music so if someone else wants to do so be it.

Are you hating on this guy because he sucks or are you hating because he is not black?

the issue is that over the past quarter century, black artists who had/have real r&b sensability, they can't get a record deal, or if they do get one, they receive faint promotion from the record labels, and scant support from radio because r&b is now been totally undermined and is now viewed as "old school", and everything has been geared towards hip-hop.

That's the only genre of music that most black artists have the option to succeed in commerically, especially the black male artists, while in the mean time, everyone else has free access to capitilize on it.

A trick for the ages was executed to perfect starting in the late 80s limiting expression in order to exploit the richness thereof....

what was once the golden treasure has been turned into everyone else's pleasure exclusively.

song is trash because the beat and arrangement, are basic, and the lyrics are assinine and full of dated catchphrases and juvenile lingo...i could care less what color he is or isnt...he's garbage...not sure why me not liking this kid or his music has to be justified by hatred or racism...theres black artists that suck too...but when i speak on it, theres no cries of hatred or racism...strange, huh?

the title says "pure R&B perefection",,,if this is perfection, what do we call what Marvin Gaye and Prince and Earth Wind & Fire and Motown and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis were doing???....its delusional rhetoric and lies like Bruno Mars song being "R&B Perfection", that have to be debunked and rebuked, by someone willing to stand for the truth...

Everything you say is true but what does that have to do with Bruno. Is he not allowed to do the music he likes? He said when he first started out he was told that his songs were good but that he was going to have to write them for a white boy. He faced discrimination as well and he could be doing Pop music right now instead of what he really likes.

He is taking a chance making an RnB record since this music is avoided like the plague by the industry. I hope he starts a trend and other RnB artist start doing this type of music once the industry sees that color does not matter to the masses. If you make good music people will buy it and that old tired racist shit needs to stop.

But what Bruno is doing is not the dreack of Young Thug and Nikki. Like I said somebody black come out and do something better than Bruno. Stop doing boring ass ballads and pick up the bass and jam.

Let's face it when we lost Prince we lost the last real black artist he was not afraid to stick his neck out. This is not Bruno's problems.

Good point. I think the root of the hate Bruno gets is because he is not Black but what is interesting is that Justin Timberlake (a white man who does water down imitation of Black music)does not nearly get the same amount of hate for doing Black music, AT LEAST Bruno acknowledges his influences and doesn't pretend to be original unlike countless other pop stars. Nobody is calling Bruno original but his music is better than countless other garbage that is raved about. I am always bewildered with why Bruno gets so much hate when there are other pop stars who make worse music. Its definitly a racial issue IMO.

the reason justin timberlake doesnt get as much so called "hate", is because his work is better than Bruno Mars, and he's not overly hyped as some sort of superstar/icon like Mars currnetly is...and since when did not liking someones music become "hate" or "racism"?... im still amused by those responses...like for every non-black artist i dont like, i have to express the same dislike for a black artist or its racist...or if there is an artist i dont like, and theyre not black, i need to keep that to myself?...are the commenta being racially profiled?...people actually read the comments and think, "oh he's typing critically about Bruno Mars because his father is black and his mother is Venezuelan, so he must hate Bruno Mars'asian blood"....really?...i talk shit about Bruno Mars because i think he's wack...if you like him, cool...but dont expect everyone to..and dont reach for all kinds of deep rooted evil, to explain away someone not liking that pop garbage he delvers...

You can't be serious with this? Justin Timberlake is far more overrated than Bruno Mars. JT gets showered with awards, he is constantly compared to MJ and Prince. The media has even compared him to Stevie Wonder and Sammy Davis Jr. JT is way overhyped and overrated for making water down Black music for the white masses. The fact that JT is white has everything to do with this issue. Why he is able to make Black music and not be called on it BUT for some reason when Bruno Mars does it its an issue?

Bruno Mars is not nearly as hyped by the media in the same regard. He is not showered with a bunch of awards. I don't read media publications calling him Stevie Wonder or Prince or MJ like they do JT. I don't see media outlets calling Bruno's music innovative like they do JT. I don't see the media fawning over Bruno Mars talent like they do JT despite JT being mediocre.

I always see this site raving about more wacker artists than Bruno so the hate that Bruno gets on the org will always get a side eye from me. You don't have to like Bruno Mars I don't care but that is not going to stop me from expressing why I feel some don't like him.

I disagree with you but god damn is it refreshing to see someone post an opinion and then
at least make an attempt to back it up intelligently as I agree with you: the beat and the arrange-
ment is pedestrian and the lyrics aren't really insightful or clever.

It still doesn't make the song "pure hot garbage" for me. I don't know if I would be so mean to call
a song as such because there is some effort or art that goes into writing a tune that deserves some
modicum of credit!

The song is boring and awfully derivative.

What the actual fuck?

Since when cool R&B jams are supposed to have "insightful" or "clever" lyrics?

This is not an experimental avant-garde industrial song, this is an R&B song and it's supposed to be mellow, smooth and cool to listen to.

Last time I checked, these were the lyrics to R Kelly's Ignition Remix:

So, baby, gimme that toot toot
Lemme give you that beep beep
Running her hands through my 'fro
Bouncing on 24s
While they say on the radio...

These are also the lyrics to Ginuwine's Pony:

I'm just a bachelor
I'm looking for a partner
Someone who knows how to ride
Without even falling off
Gotta be compatible
Takes me to my limits
Girl when I break you off
I promise that you won't want to get off

Both are one of the most known/popular R&B anthems of all time.

And why the fuck bring up Justin Timberlake? Everyone with a sane mind knows he can't even sing properly, not even on record. The material on 20/20 Experience and FutureSounds is pretty damn good but it's because all of the music you hear in those albums is played by talented session musicians AND THAT'S IT. The only talent that can be attributed to Timberlake is his mediocre, dated dance moves.
