Why do MJ fans have a problem with me only being a fan of P and not being a fan of MJ? It seems to really get y'all upset Seriously, no one gives a rat's ass of whom you are a fan. People just wonder why you and anyone else who is not a fan, goes into a thread of an artist they don't like, to complain that people want to talk about that artist. Why not simply not waste your and everyone elses time and just ignore it? Not every thread has to be about an artist you like. [Edited 1/30/17 8:01am]

Um. Yeah. No.
The owner of this fansite has designated a specific area for that.
I was moseying around this P fan site and saw a conversation going on and contributed to it. I'm not the one who is restricted to a designated area. As a matter of fact, I've only ever noticed MJ fans being restricted in that way. Must be something in the water. Hmmm
I wasn't being rude and I wasn't talking about P, which since it is a fansite dedicated to showing appreciation for him, would be understandable but unecessary in that conversation.
Anyway, you're right...Not every thread has to be about a performer you like...especially on a fansite that wasn't dedicated to that performer.

Im glad, I dont like long long posts like that. What about if someone just wanted to talk about the creation of Baby Be Mine for example...it would get lost in the feed etc. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

THAT'S because of 2009 when This Is It was announced which was followed by his passing. This section got flooded by threads about him and the whole family, and not all were made by diehard MJ fans. Some threads about music, and some troll and really distasteful threads. The mods decided to regulate to one thread and here we are today. "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Yes, I'm new to POSTING here, but I'm not new to this site. I joined under a different name back around Emancipation then...life happened.
Anyway...Yes, I realize that fans of P may also be fans of other artists, but I never see the fans of any other artists except MJ fans attempt to take over this site, knowing that the management doesn't want that.
I never see fans of any other artist complain about not being able to "discuss without restriction".
That tells me all I need to know.
I know you already know all the places that you could post unrestricted about MJ and yet, despite objections by attempts to do that here, you continue to try to do that here. It feels as if fans who go to other fansites and do that are ignoring the simple courtesy and the simple fact that if you ike A and B but are on A's fansite, that is the focus...not B.
If this were a matter of a P fan trying this on an MJ fansite the MJ fans wouldn't allow it either. It's rude immature behavior, especially since you and I aren't teenagers (well, mebbe in spirit. lol).
The whole point of being an adult is to know what's appropriate and what is not, no?
When so many threads commented on by P/MJ fans or MJ fans in the Main forum somehow turns into "I'm a P fan, but MJ...blahblahblah..." That's rude. But somehow it turns into "Y'all hate MJ!" No...It's simply not about MJ on a P forum. The management was generous enough to provide an area to discuss MJ and y'all still aren't satisfied. It's as if after MJ died MJ fans needed another celeb to crush on so they found themselves gravitating to thier second or third or fourth choice, P. P isn't my second choice, he's my first choice so I dunno what to tellya.
I don't "hate" MJ, I'm simply indifferent to him for maaaaany reasons. I have no problem with P fans also being fans of MJ...Why do MJ fans have a problem with me only being a fan of P and not being a fan of MJ? It seems to really get y'all upset.
I have no authority here. I'm simply a P fan who posts about P on a P forum and not an MJ forum.

I agree but we will see how this plays out. The Prince fans here are threatned by MJ so the sticky might be added again.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Based on what I've seen here, the justification is that since this is a Prince site, MJ shouldn't be talked about. ...despite the fact that there is a non-Prince forum which is the only place MJ is talked about.

see how photoshop can sway ...the original Air Jordans came out in late 1984/early 1985.
This picture was taken right in the heart of Thriller circa 1983
and no way did he have a license plate that said GOAT....that acronym didn't even exist then....
in the real authentic version of this same pic, Michael was wearing loafers like he always did during those years [Edited 1/31/17 5:17am]

Actually, I disagree. This picture looks like it's from 1985. Looks to be around Captain Eo.

I've seen this pic like ten thousand times and nobody was driving around w/a license plate that said GOAT, that's a sports acronym that didn't really kick off until NFL legend Jerry Rice retired in the early 2000s......
MJ was sporting loafers like he always did during those years....

Me personally, I didn't feel he was overexposed because from 82-85, he was dropping gauntlet after gauntlet with one great effort after another He developed a great sense of timing on when to pull back and when to return I dont think he was overexposed during any point of his career

If my memory serves me the expression GOAT originated with Earl Manigault. A New York playground legend who many felt was the best basketball player of all time, but sadly he never got to the NBA. However I don't think it was capitalized. He was just "The Goat" but it ment the Greatest of All Time. It was said he was better than Doctor J and his best years were in the 1960s. So the expression was around for a while and of course Muhammed Ali would repeatedly refer to himself as such from the 50s but it seems the capitalization started later when his wife copywrited it for liscensing purposes.

Ive never heard Ali use the word "goat". He referred to himself as the greatest In the professional sports realm, the first pro athlete I can recall who was referred to as the goat was NFL legend Jerry Rice

this real of the real picture was taken during the heart of the Thriller years
big difference between fact and fiction
that means whoever doctored this picture up, probably drew allot of attention to themselves and in the processs swayed many into believing something that was real but distorted.
