For possessing mediocre artistic talent, Madonna's the most overachieving figure in the
history of the arts industry. For about 20 years, she was a major force to be reckoned
with and as a woman in that particular field - this is quite impressive.

Co-sign.

As far as the original question is concerned, I'll just answer with a simple NOT EVEN CLOSE.

Madonna was never really the sex kitten. She was always the quirky, free spirit and rebel. However, her looks are underrated imo. She was beautiful during the 80s and had really pretty eyes. I dont think she gets enough credit for her looks because she never branded herself a sex symbol and was quirky. Although she hasnt aged well, she def was a looker in her prime. I was looking through all her old photos and Rihanna has really studied Madonna's career to the T, every look Madonna has done Rihanna has copied.

In terms of the most beautiful pop star, IMO that title goes to Whitney. She was naturally breath taking stunning and didn't get any nose jobs or altercations.

I never thought she was really beautiful, the way that Angelina Jolie or Halle Berry or Scarlett Johannson are beautiful. She was sexy in the 80s, especially in "Desperately Seeking Susan". After that, her look became too "hard" for me, like an aging hooker who knows what works best for her and milks it ...

She's rather pretty, but I'm partial to Audrey Hepburn. smile

.

I much appreciate Madge for representing the diastema crowd (space between the middle incisors). I got one myself, and it's cool to see 'one of us' as a major beauty icon. cool

What? She put out a book entitled Sex. So, throughout the 80s and 90s, the decades of her young
adulthood, she was selling sex most of the time!

I'm quite surprised to hear most of you can't see the beauty in her. In desperately seeking susan i thought she was drop dead gorgeous and effortlessly cool. Next you'll be telling me you think lady gaga is more attractive than madge.

Madonna is very beautiful, especially her eyes, but even more so, she is extremely photogenic.

Looking at female singers, i would say Whitney was the most classical beauty, probably the most beautiful woman in musicbusiness.

In terms of facial features, I've always been a sucker for Emmylou Harris. But Houston was
classically beautiful in every single regard!

Madonna challenged her music listeners with complex issues and themes that focused on sexuality. She was provocative. However, she by no means was a "sex kitten"

Early on Madonna was definetely considered a sex symbol. Many people thought so and she marketed herself as one. She was thought to be #1 in those terms in the early years. Especially from 1983-early 1986. Later on, it's true she changed but in the early years she was a sex symbol without question. Literally every article/interview/etc. has discussed this. That was the main thing she was known for back then and it was ALWAYS discussed. Do your research!

This is the first time I have ever heard this...

I have never heard Madonna referred to as a sex symbol. Madonna is not viewed as a sex symbol by the general public. I also I was not specifically referencing that. I said she was never a "sex kitten" and when she used sexuality it was always used to challenge norms or to make a statement. Her brand wasn't built on pandering to male fantasies, which she easily could have done but she didnt. I respect that.

She's said herself she's an 'unconventional beauty'. She has amazing eyes and i think she's become more beautiful the older she has got.

Stunningly beautiful woman and I like her mature looks. She should scale back the makeup a bit like in the Ray Of Light era where it was not used to much to get that Marilyn effect, but thats what she was going for again on the Rebel Heart era.

I personally have always felt Madonna was beautiful in her prime but when I talk to people they always say she is ugly or average looking. Most people don't refer to Madonna as "beautiful". That is why I feel her looks are and were underrated when she was in her prime 80s- early 90s.

I've followed her since she first broke big in the UK, only losing track in the last few years due to her trend chasing and crass crap like 'Bitch I'm Madonna' or whatever it was called. I've always found her more fascinating than anything else. There have been times where I've thought she looks really beautiful, the 'Secret' video springs to mind. She's always had something. I appreciate her and I'm glad she's still with us being Madonna. I'd love her to do something laid back, more organic though. Less bleepy bullshit, more real emotion, vocals and lyrics.
