He also said that as black people we need to stop complaining about racism. eek

I've never heard that from Common. There are a few folk out there that will complain about

stuff when it isn't warranted. My guess is that where Common may have been coming from.

For instance if your ass didn't vote you have no reason to gripe about the results of the election or out in the streets protesting.

He said it and I will try and find it and post it. Don't use the election and people not voting as an example of complaining about racism. If people did not protest or complain about the lack of civil rights for black people in the country we would all still be riding in the back of the bus or going to segregated schools.

When something is wrong people need to complain and anyone saying otherwise his asking people to be idiots and stick their heads in the sand. I have no time for people like him who could use his name to do something positive instead of worrying about his pocket book. He will not be gettng any of my money.

Contradiction. He has done that and more starting in his hometown of Chicago. I'm quite sure the last thing Common is concerned about is where his next meal is coming from so he doesn't have to grandstand for anyone.
Shaq has recently said that not all cops are bad cops and he has friends on the force. It doesn't mean he's a sellout or doesn't have concern about police brutality against blacks.

clapping clapping clapping clapping clapping clapping clapping Excellent post. I hate how people are ostracized for speaking out for whats right.I respect anyone who stands by their arguments and who fight against the system. Black people have gotten to complacent and rely to much on fake Black empowerment pandering from celebrities that only use it to broaden their brands and interests.

There are a lot of internal problems within our community and until we address our own issues we will continue to fall for the emeny's pandering of token Blacks. I firmly believe these tokens are used as a distraction and pawns to upkemp the establishment's/White man's agenda. Unfornately, these issues will always exist because we as a community are lost and we also lack leadership.

Common delivering a powerful rap!

I'd like to see rappers like Common perform with a live band

Big Daddy Kane performs with a live band now and his set is amazing.
