Anybody here like Johnny Cash?

I'm not a big lover of country music, but I'm listening to his San Quentin concert as I type this and it's really great- if only because of how the crowd reacts to the San Quentin song. The guitar playing, the songs, his dry sense of humor... And it's got Boy Named Sue and Ring of Fire on it! And Carl Perkins plays along! I love his album, but so far it's the only one I've got. Anybody know any other good Johnny Cash albums?

His version of "Hurt" originally written by nine inch nails won me over. so much emotion in his version. Also, "Cocaine Blues" is a favorite of mine too.

Ride This Train (1960) is my favorite. Back when men were men...

I went to his museum in Nashville last week. It was pretty cool. What struck me was how, until he was about 40, he was Johnny Cash - kind of a dorky-looking guy. But then, he turned into Johnny Freaking Cash - one of the most striking faces ever.

Love his music-- Folsom Prison Blues is my favorite. Got the chance to watch the Broadway musical, The Million Dollar Quartet-- about the fateful day in December 4, 1956-- when an impromptu jam session between Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash occurred. Quite historic in the early days of rock and roll. cool

This is an album from the late 1970s, during the CB radio/trucker era. Basically it's sort of a concept album about hichhiking and some dude breaking up with a girlfriend or wife. It has some dialogue sections. The entire album used to be on Youtube, but it's gone now

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
