What the hell ever happened to Mark Morrison? Dude came out hard with "Return of the Mack" which is pretty much a classic now and was never heard from again. Did he ever do a follow up album? I know he is from the UK. Essense help! Bringing Together Five Decades of R&B/Funk/Soul/Dance

Rumoured comebacks and legal troubles have filled the gap since his excellent debut album. He did have a single with Connor Reeves called "Best Friend", which was bizarrely meant to originally be with Gary Barlow (Lead singer of Take That) but Gary didn't want the bad press from teaming with Mark.
He had said he was signed to Death Row records and then I saw that he was re-releasing "Blackstabbers" (Cover of O'Jays' Backstabbers with new lyrics) but this was already available on his "Only God Can Judge Me" EP from 1997.

It's actually a good album, you heard it? Admittedly his Bobby Brown bad boy posturing image was corny but musically he had something at times.

When I heard "Return of the Mack" I just had to have the CD. It was nice that I could actually listen to the whole CD and that I didnt buy it for that one song only! He calls me "Holi" cuz he says everyday w/ me is like a Holiday...

I revisited the album yesterday thanks to Intha's thread, hadn't listened in time, isn't it scary that Return Of The Mack is seven years old now? Back in 1996 I had that song on loop.
An interesting fact about the album (and a nod to it's quality perhaps) is that it's full of singles, out of eleven proper songs: Crazy, Let's Get Down, Moan & Groan, I Like, Trippin' and Horny all got a release of some kind in addition to "Mack". The version of the later classic single is actually a remix, and not the single/radio take. Aside from the obvious, one of my favourites is actually the LP track "Tears For You", a duet with Mica Paris, great vibe and she's on top form. Trippin' is a great one too. Mark wrote basically all the tracks so clearly posesses talent so it's strange there's been little since, I think he generally placed being a bad boy above his art. He still deserves to be mentioned with the UK's greatest R&B acts regardless, for the impact he made in a short time. The post Mack LP stuff: -Only God Can Judge Me EP -Best Friend (w/ Connor Reeves)
