. Co-sign - ever since I saw that gal wail out "Janie's Got A Gun" at the Aerosmith MTV Icon special I knew she was it. She's hit or shit but when she hits its quite amazing, like that song "Try" (hit) versus that new soundtrack song "Just Like Fire"(shit).
And then to think Aerosmith also had a hit with a song called Pink. I think she also has a "since" of humour. . I think she does too and it is endearing. She did a remix with India.Arie of I Am Not My Hair where she says in the beginning "oh her hair is brown now are they going to call her brown?" It's a cute joke, I am surprised she has lasted so long when she was initially pretty gimmicky. if it was just a dream, call me a dreamer 2

Never liked: Norah Jones (lovely voice, just wished she did more with it because it gets boring) Michael Bublé (karaoke much?) Alicia Keys (only liked one song, "Falling") Taylor Swift (not my cup of tea where by blaming the guy for the relationship ending, you fail to acknowldege your responsibility all the while giving the guy more power) Jay-Z (again, not my cup of tea) Justin Timberlake (I grew up a BSB fan as a very little girl, so I could never warm up to the guy) Elton John (a good couple of songs, but doesn't do much for me) Mariah Carey (the diva attitude went overboard and her showing off her whistle tone was way too much, like girl have you listened to Minnie Ripperton?) Bruno Mars (the old-fashioned, throwback approach never appealed to me) Ed Sheeran (again, not my cup of tea) Sam Smith (read above) Christina Aguilera (great voice, but her lack of control and her inability to rely on other ways to express a song, i.e. phrasing, is a turn off) No longer like Adele (too much hype) Pharell (he became a judge in the voice) Beyonce (I adored her when she went solo in 2003, but her lack of growth as an artist and her inability to be bold and make an album on her own, or with just one or two producers, made me lose my admiration) Britney Spears (only because you realize she has been a puppet her whole career) Love is God,

. Speaking of Stones - Joss Stone. I loved that first album with the sincere cover versions but I have yet to really feel any followups, even the tune with Lauryn Hill (another one) was a mega let down. if it was just a dream, call me a dreamer 2

Which explains why she's on my list. To me, she is the least talented of all so called superstars in music. People have said that about Madonna, but Ms. BS fits the bill more than anyone IMO

Britney has a mental disorder but during her prime (1999-2001) she was actually a good performer. I wouldn't say she has NO talent at all. I think that should go to Katy Perry. Briney is obviously passed her peak and is currently medicated so I don't think its fair to judge her performances now. I find all of todays stars to be puppets outside of the ones who actually write their music i.e Adele and Bruno. If you gonna call Britney a puppet minus well call everyone a puppet.

Y'know, the thing with Joss is that she broke through with the amazing Soul Sessions at the age of 15 and then made the brilliant Mind, Body and Soul and you're not even 20 and you've made two great albums... What do you do after that? There's just nowhere left to go... [Edited 8/23/16 13:47pm]

Look at this concert clip. It's Britney lipsyncing.....to another singer's vocals! That's what I mean when I call her a puppet. She doesn't even try. It's like she's content to just get up onstage like an emotionless robot....lipsyncing the entire show and going through the motions. She puts no effort or heart into her performances.

But she has a mental illness... its not fair to insist she is "not trying" or mock her when she is medicated." Of course that will automatically affect how she performs, energy, emotion etc. During her prime (1999-2001) Britney was a good performer and she did put heart in her performances during those years before her mental her break down, I stand by that. I am not a Britney Spears fan by any measure but I don't get people who imply she has always been this robotic emotionless performer when that is completely not true at all. Also people insist she has always been a "puppet" but so is Beyonce, Katy Perry, and Rihanna who don't write or produce any of their music.

Really, you don't like Blood Sugar sex magik or Californication, they are great albums. Even One Hot minute has some good songs like My friends and Aeroplane. . Mothers milk is a great album, Stonecold Bush, Subway to Venus, Taste the Pain - I mean wow! Uplift Mofo party plan is probably their best, just so raw! I kind of agree, the Chilis were better when they were an underground act and before Under the Bridge made them all mainstream. . By the way was their last good album, Stadium Arcadium and anything later is dreadful. I can just about stomach blood sugar sex magic but after that no way! Complete shite! Where's the funk and energy. They should probably hang it up.

Thinking about it, I can see why, their post 2002 stuff is sugary and frothy stadium rock to the extreme, and even BSSM was flattening out the riffs and metal sounds. . I bet I can see you listening to something like Backwoods, with the riffed up zabba zabba metal guitar of Hillel Slovak and Anthony going "In the backwoods baby - Where BERRIES grow, take me to your Backwoods now" I would take that over any of their pleasing 1990s stuff and the whole of the mothers milk album. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I liked Ricky Martin in 1998 during the World Cup Soccor and that song Cup of Life......but then in 1999 during the 'latin explosion' and Livin La Vida Loca song I think I got turned off by the overexposure.....that it was everywhere....and then lost interest in him and his music. Keep Calm & Listen To Prince

I stopped listening to contemporary pop music around the time of Britney Spears' first hit (in 1998), so I've rarely heard any pop songs since then. What I have heard is absolute shite, so I would say I hate about 99% of pop music. Unlistenable garbage. . Similarly, the 1990s' version of "R&B" (corruption of the term) as symbolized by "artists" like R.Kelly is absolutely soul-destroying, dire dreck. . Much the same with rap/hip-hop. The late-70s through late-80s threw up some interesting artists that I like, but since then it's all diminishing returns in a 'genre' that burned itself out very quickly (probably because it's so musically limited). . All pop-country (the million-sellers since the early 1990s) is absolute garbage. . I have a hard time listening to white blues bands/singers since, maybe, the classic-rock era ended (mid-70s or whatever). It was meaningful in the Woodstock-era, but since then something about white guys going onstage to play blues is just cringe-inducing. .. As for particular artists that I can't stand, here is a (very) limited list: . -- Bon Jovi (turned 80's hair-music into a career corporation; utterly insincere music under the pretense of sincerity) -- Maroon 5 (tough choice between listening to his voice on repeat for an hour, or having my testacles removed with a can-opener)

. I was listening to some crooners, and came to the realization that I CANNOT STAND Michael Bublé. I think his renditions of the old standards are soulless and pretentious, and his original pop songs are just bland. My aunt and grandmother are Bublé fans, but they can keep him. . I don't want your rhythm without your rhyme

Never liked Adele - her music is dirge like, some of her songs are so depressing I don't know how folks can listen to them. Sia - Lady Gaga 2.0, don't get the hype and the don't show my face gimmick has been done already, even tries to emulate her voice like on Cheap Thrills. One Direction, Zayn and co and most of the X Factor contestants - formulaic pop Cheryl Cole/Tweedy Justin Bieber If I think of more I'll add them

I don't think your critiquing Britney Spears fair or objectively. I do not consider myself to be a Britney Spear's fan at all but to argue that she did not work hard at during performances from 1998-2004 is a flat out lie. Its understandable to say you never cared for her dancing, singing, etc but to insist she did not work hard in her performances during her peak 1998-2004 is not accurate IMO. You really haven't showed any substantial receipts for your argument. I agree that Beyonce works hard in her performances However, I disagree that she puts effort in her career when she has not shown any artistic growth as an artist. Beyonce also hasn't had a mental break down so I am not sure why you would use her as an example. You keep mixing apples and oranges and your opinion doesn't make much sense to me but we can agree to disagree All these 2001 performances of Britney are good. She is working hard putting effort on stage and in her dance routines [Edited 9/5/16 15:53pm]
