The Rolling Stones: New Havana Moon Film

29 July 2016

A new concert movie documenting The Rolling Stones' historic free show in Havana, Cuba, this past spring will premiere as a one-night-only event on September 23 at a variety of theaters in the U.K. and other countries.

Havana Moon -- The Rolling Stones Live in Cuba features the British rock legends performing outdoors in front of a crowd of more than a million on March 25, 2016.

At the beginning of the concert, frontman Mick Jagger said to the audience, "Finally the times are changing, Cuba we are so happy to be here." He later jokingly introduced his band mates as "The Revolutionary Ronnie Wood…Charlie 'Che' Watts [and] Compadre Keith Richards."

Havana Moon was directed by Paul Dugdale, the same filmmaker behind the just-announced documentary The Rolling Stones Olé Olé Olé!: A Trip Across Latin America, which will premiere at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival in September.

Tickets for the Havana Moon -- The Rolling Stones Live will go on sale in early August at StonesinCuba.com.

No word yet on when the movie will premiere in North America.

Wish I'd been there... But I don't think the concert itself was any different than other Stones concerts...

I got to see the Stones for free in 2003, at Staples Center, at a show sponsored by the NRDC, the very first organization to publicize the risk of climate change. Bill Clinton introduced them.

Here's an exclusive clip of the Stones playing ''Out Of Control'', from the Bridges To Babylon album.
