"Elvis always loved the great, operatic vocalists," says Priscilla Presley, executive producer of The Wonder of You. "We often talked about his interest in recording material that allowed him to perform in that space. It's exciting to hear him on these recordings, performing with the world-class Royal Philharmonic Orchestra via the magic of Abbey Road Studios. He would have loved these performances and I'm very happy that we were able to make this dream come true for Elvis and his fans."

"As with the first time we stepped into this amazing world - it is the extraordinary intimacy of Elvis's vocal performances that is truly breathtaking," says Nick Patrick. "The exquisite and effortless way he takes us on an emotional journey with him through delicate sensitivity to power and grace all within a magical 3-minute song. It's a wonderful, wonderful privilege for which we are truly grateful."

"I believe we have made an album that is uplifting, sensitive, heart touching and fun – the way that Elvis was and still is to so many of us," says Don Reedman. "His spirit has never left the building!"

Kacey Musgraves Taps Willie Nelson for Christmas Album

Legendary outlaw brings his trusty guitar Trigger to "A Willie Nice Christmas," a new song Musgraves wrote for her upcoming holiday record

Willie Nelson sings with Kacey Musgraves on the new holiday song "A Willie Nice Christmas." Gary Miller/GettyImages

The upcoming holiday season will get even more sparkly this year as Kacey Musgraves puts her unique rhinestone-studded spin on several holiday classics for A Very Kacey Christmas, the singer-songwriter's first holiday-themed LP. In addition to such Yuletide standards as "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "Let It Snow," the latter of which features Texas trio the Quebe Sisters, the festive collection will include four original tunes co-written by Musgraves.

Country spitfire takes the rockers' Nashville stage for a song she regularly covers in her own shows

The album also reunites Musgraves with Willie Nelson, who wrote and performed with her on "Are You Sure," a hidden track from her most recent LP, Pageant Material. Together, they duet on the Hawaiian-flavored "A Willie Nice Christmas," penned by Musgraves with frequent collaborators Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne. The song boasts a stocking full of Willie-related references to red bandanas, Luckenbach, Texas, "On the Road Again" and, not surprisingly, includes the line "May we all stay higher than the angel on the top of the tree." Musgraves' faithful take on the Polynesian-influenced "Mele Kalikimaka" has the Quebe siblings standing in for the Andrews Sisters, who joined crooner Bing Crosby on his classic 1950 rendition of the tune. Elsewhere, on "Present Without a Bow," R&B singer Leon Bridge adds a touch of classic soul to the collection.

"Working on my first Christmas album has been one of the most enriching musical experiences I've ever had and I can't wait for everyone to hear it," says the Grammy-winning singer in a statement. "I really wanted to create a whimsical throwback holiday record, one that evokes feelings of nostalgia and simpler times. I think that the fine musicians and brains that were a part of this project have helped me create a body of music that can be added to people's classic collections."

Produced by Musgraves with Misa Arriaga and Kyle Ryan, A Very Kacey Christmas will be released October 28th, 57 shopping days before Christmas.

Here's the complete track list:

1. "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"

2. "Let It Snow" (featuring the Quebe Sisters)

3. "Christmas Don't Be Late"

4. "A Willie Nice Christmas" (featuring Willie Nelson and Trigger)

5. "Feliz Navidad"

6. "Christmas Makes Me Cry"

7. "Present Without A Bow" (featuring Leon Bridges)

8. "Mele Kalikimaka" (featuring the Quebe Sisters)

9. "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas"

10. "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer"

11. "Ribbons and Bows"

12. "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?"

Lady Gaga, fifth studio album | New track: “Freakshow”

ARTPOP creator, the one and only Lady Gaga does not rest for a moment. After the promotion of Christmas H&M collection with Tony Bennett and their collaborative jazz album Cheek to Cheek, she continues in the studio to create some new music for her next and awaited fifth overall LP, which is expected to be released in later this year via Interscope Records.

The superstar singer began production of her new project with legends Nile Rogers and Diane Warren in late 2014. A few months after, Gaga also shared on Instagram a pic in the studio working with her mentor and former hitmaker of her big global hits RedOne.

The singer confirmed new track called Till It Happens to You written with Diane Warren, which was included on the documentary “The Hunting Ground“, which was premiered during Sundance Festival. The film documents the lives of young people affected by rape.

During an interview with PopJustice, Giorgio Moroder revealed that intended to work with Gaga in some tracks for the new album. He said:

I was supposed to be in the studio with her a week ago, but I got a cold. I’ll see her when I’m back. I have about five or six tracks, just basic ideas. Drums, keyboard, bass. I’m going to be surprised, I think – I don’t have a clue about the way she’s recording. Will she play the piano? Will I?

In early 2015, Gaga also confirmed she worked in the studio making her second jazz album with Tony Bennett with songs of Cole Porter.

In April 2015, The New Jersey-bred Italian-American character Jo Calderone, who once performed for her at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, returned to Twitter to post two rather intriguing tweets and a retweet of Lady Gaga. Something’s up.

The anticipated track “PARTYNAUSEOUS” performed during her artRave: The ARTPOP Ball Tour surfaced online on May 21, 2015. The full version includes the collaboration of American rapper Kendrick Lamar.

During a recent interview, Sir Elton John has confirmed that he heard a couple of tracks from Gaga’s new project and “are really, really fantastic“. He said:

So, she’s been doing lots of different things, but I can tell you I’ve heard a couple of things from that new album and it’s really, really fantastic

Gaga premiered another brand new song called “I Want Your Love” which was included on Tom Ford’s Women Spring/Summer 2016 collection campaign directed by Nick Knight and premiered worldwide on Friday October 2nd.

The track is a Gagalicious cover of the original with the same name performed by Chic, which appeared on their 1978 album, “C’est Chic“.

During British Fashion Awards red carpet, Lily Allen confirmed that her friend, hitmaker Mark Ronson was working with Gaga in some new music. A few days after, Diplo also shared a “Diplogaga 2016” pic on Instagram teasing a possible collaboration between them this year.

Born This Way” executive producer DJ White Shadow also confirmed some work in the studio with Gaga. Fernando Garibay is also involved in the project too (according Giorgio Moroder).

During an interview with Charlie Rose, British producer and hitmaker Mark Ronson has talked about Gaga’s upcoming project and described it as “very honest, authentic and analog“. He said:

I’ve been working for the past few months with Lady Gaga on her upcoming record and I’m just blown away by her talent, her voice. She’s a muso at heart. She’s the happiest when she’s sitting at a piano barking orders at the drummer, and I don’t think that’s the side of her the world has seen (…) They’ve seen the massive pop singles, tours, and dance numbers, so it’s really great to make this very honest, authentic, analog kind of record with her

During an interview with The Guardian, Nile Rodgers has confirmed that Gaga’s new music is funky. He said:

It’s really catchy. I can’t tell you about the Lady Gaga music, either, but I can tell you one thing — it’s funky.

Recently, the singer has been working in the studio with Ronson again along Kevin Parker and BloodPop. During some interview hitmaker RedOne has confirmed that he has made 8 tracks for Gaga’s upcoming project.

During a recent interview with Beats 1, Elton John has confirmed that the new album could arrives later this year or early 2017.

The proper lead single from the album is called “Perfect Illusion” was released on September 9th. The same morning Gaga confirmed during BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast show that in this new album there’s a collaboration with Florence + The Machine vocalist Florence Welch.

Saw these guys open for Charles Bradley a couple of years ago. The lead singer could teach Sam Smith a couple of things. Check them out!

Review: St. Paul and the Broken Bones Prove Modern Power of Classic Sound

Our take on 'Sea of Noise,' the second LP from the Southern R&B revivalists

David McClister

From Frank Ocean to Blood Orange, we're in a golden age of expansive R&B – meaning the bar is high, even for old-school revivalists like Alabama's St. Paul and the Broken Bones. So it's gratifying to hear them step up their vision on their second LP. "We're just crumbling light  . . .  in a sea of noise," pleads leader Paul Janeway in the album's opening moments, cryptically riffing off Winston Churchill over electronic swirls, hallucinated harp arpeggios and heavenly choirs. The song "Crumbling Light Posts" functions as a recurring theme throughout a record that otherwise sticks to more traditional rock & soul territory. It makes a convincing pitch for the enduring power of a classic sound, which the band delivers with startling authority.

The settings are studied and potent: "Midnight on the Earth" conjures Sly Stone funk with a soaring brass finale. "I'll Be Your Woman" nods to Prince's "If I Was Your Girlfriend" via Al Green, with strings arranged by Stax session vet Lester Snell. "All I Ever Wonder" matches Beatles vocal flourishes with vintage Memphis Horns punch, and "Burning Rome" gets all Ouija with Otis Redding fire. On every track, Janeway is a History Channel of R&B vocalizing, thrilling and powerful. He'll be one worth watching as he moves through the present.

Meat Loaf: New Album is ‘My Last Record’

by Best Classic Bands Staff
"It was just dehydrated," Meat Loaf said about his June 2016 onstage collapse, on a September 12 appearance on Fox & Friends

“It was just dehydrated,” Meat Loaf said about his June 2016 onstage collapse, on a September 12 appearance on Fox & Friends

Meat Loaf’s Braver Than We Are album arrives September 16 (pre-order here) and it continues a busy, headline-grabbing year for the classic rock star. To support the new release, Meat is make a slew of TV and radio appearances, including Fox & Friends, ABC’s The Chew (September 14), Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight, The Big Interview with Dan Rather, PBS’ Metro Focus, CNBC’s Closing Bell and many more, as well as multiple shows on SiriusXM and The Alan Colmes Show on Fox News Radio.

On today’s (September 13) appearance on The Today Show, Meat revealed: “This is my last record.” When the Today interviewers pressed him for more, he said: “Yeah, I’m positive. I had knee surgery. I used to run onstage and can’t run anymore and it drive me nuts.” The interview ended abruptly when the show credits ran. Whether it means he’s retiring from music altogether was unclear.

You may recall, at a concert performance on June 16 in Edmonton, Canada, the performer collapsed onstage in the middle of his show-stopping song “I’d Do Anything for Love.”

The New York Post was a little premature on Meat Loaf's condition following his June 16, 2016 onstage collapse

The New York Post was a little premature on Meat Loaf’s condition following his June 16, 2016 onstage collapse

The New York Post was a bit premature on pronouncing the man dead.

He talked about the collapse on Fox & Friends earlier today (September 12). “It was just dehydration; no big deal,” said Meat. See the full interview below.

Working closely again with his Bat Out Of Hell collaborator Jim Steinman, the release includes ten songs. The singer had previously touted the long-delayed album in 2014.

The tracks on Braver Than We Are were written by Steinman. While Paul Crook produced the album, Steinman acted as creative consultant throughout the recording process working alongside Crook and Meat Loaf sending suggestions, adding verses and contributing opinions on every aspect.

The first single, “Going All The Way,” features another reunion: Meat Loaf is joined by vocalists Ellen Foley and Karla DeVito, decades after he collaborated with them on the smash hit “Paradise by the Dashboard Light.”

KT Tunstall Announces New Album 'KIN' to Be Released 9/9

KT Tunstall Announces New Album 'KIN' to Be Released 9/9

KT Tunstall returns with an explosive 11 track collection of songs on her fifth studio album KIN to be released September 9th on Caroline Records. The album will be available for pre-order at all participating retailers, here.

Two years ago, KT Tunstall thought she was done with music: "As an artist I feel like I died," she says. "I stopped. I gave up. I didn't want to do it anymore." She put her stuff in storage and bought a little house in Venice Beach, California and enrolled in the Sundance Institute's elite Film Composers Lab. It was a turning point in her life.

Two years later KIN was born. Produced by Tony Hoffer (Beck, Fitz and the Tantrums, Air, M83 and more), and written and recorded by KT in LA, it exemplifies the very best of guitar pop. "The truth is, I've finally made peace with being a pop songwriter," KT says. "This record was very much embracing my dharma as an artist, which is to write positive songs that have muscle, but also show their vulnerability."

It has been over ten years since KT released her multi-platinum debut, Eye To The Telescope, and in KIN, KT sees its full bodied and blooded follow up. The album's new focused sound is exemplified by the teaser track 'Evil Eye'; a stripped back, primal rock 'n' roll track that seeded the whole record. The album's lead single 'Maybe It's A Good Thing' shows KT in top form: a moment in life captured in a bright, powerful pop song with an irresistible and unforgettable melody.

The diverse collection also includes a duet with KT fan James Bay, the raucous rebellion of 'It Took Me So Long To Get Here, But Here I Am', 'Run On Home', the call to arms of 'Hard Girls', and the beautiful album closer 'Love Is An Ocean'.

Amazon will have limited signed copies of KIN available while supplies last. In addition, Barnes & Noble will have an exclusive, limited edition colored vinyl version of KIN, again while supplies last.

KT has released five albums internationally, to date: Eye to the Telescope (2004), KT Tunstall's Acoustic Extravaganza (2006), Drastic Fantastic (2007), Tiger Suit (2010) and Invisible Empire // Crescent Moon (2013). Her music has also figured prominently in film and television including The Devil Wear's Prada, Grey's Anatomy, Winter's Tale and many more. She has won a BRIT Award, an Ivor Novello Award and earned both Grammy and Mercury Prize nominations.

Emeli Sande Returns With Epic New Single, ‘Hurts’

Image result for Emeli Sande ‘Hurts’

by Elle Breezy 0

British songstress Emeli Sande is back after a nearly four-year hiatus with a new single called “Hurts.”

The song starts off with a sweet slow, a capella melody, but soon, loud claps pick up the tempo as she sings about heartbreak.

“Baby, I’m not made of stone / It hurts, / Loving you, the way I do / It hurts,” Emeli sings on the chorus.

As the song progresses, so does the musicality; by the first chorus, an orchestra complete with lush strings and horns appear. The song continues to grow, and at the song’s apex, a choir puts the cherry on top for an emotionally-epic sound.

Mario Drops Cinematic Video For Latest RnBass Single, ‘I Need More’

Back in May, Mario dropped his RnBass single “I Need More,” now he’s back with the cinematic visual.

The clip begins when the singer is taken out the back of a van, hands tied behind his back by men with gas masks on. The shove him into a dark and dreary building where he explores the rooms filled with wayward-looking women. He follows one to a larger room where a dance sequence takes place. By video’s end, Mario and the rest of those pinned up in the building revolt against the gas-masked men who put them there.

It’s clear Mario is following the rap-like singing trend, and it’s unfortunate because he has vocals for days!

I Need More” follows his 2015 Rick Ross-assisted offering “Forever.”

The 20th Anniversary 12″ vinyl edition of Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite includes a pair of revelatory new essays: 1) an appreciation of Maxwell and his music by noted R&B scholar, music/culture critic, journalist and filmmaker Nelson George; and 2) a behind-the-scenes reminiscence on the making of Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite penned by music industry veteran Mitchell Cohen, who, as Senior Vice President of A&R at Columbia Records, signed Maxwell to the label and helped shepherd the music from raw concept to full realization.

Maxwell, an iconic singer-songwriter-performer, began redefining classic soul music for a new generation with the release of his critically-acclaimed debut on Columbia Records in April 1996. Fueled in part by the RIAA gold single, “Ascension (Don’t Ever Wonder),” and other hits including “Sumthin’ Sumthin'” and the classic “Whenever Wherever Whatever,” Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite picked up a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album and went on to achieve US double platinum status in 2002.

With BLACKsummers’night, his first studio album in eight years, Maxwell took home his first two Grammy Awards: Best R&B Album and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance (for “Pretty Wings,” a 2010 Song of the Year nominee) as well as his first NAACP Image Award (as 2010’s Outstanding Male Artist).

Legacy is proud to release the first-ever 12″ vinyl edition of BLACKsummer’snight in the US as a limited edition Metallic Silver collectible pressed on 150gram vinyl.

The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, entered the Billboard 200 at #3 and is already generating widespread critical acclaim and fan support.

The multi-platinum soul singer is set to embark on a tour with Mary J. Blige for the first time ever on the co-headlining ‘The King and Queen of Hearts World Tour,’ playing arenas nationwide. by DJ JusMusic

There are only a few male/female R&B collaborators out there that are magical together! Eric Benét and Tamia are surely in that conversation.

The longtime collaborators recently teamed up again for the remix to “Sunshine,” a single from Benét’s forthcoming self-titled eighth studio album. On the smooth ballad, both Benét and Tamia shine with pristine vocals as they sing effortlessly about finding their way back to love.

Benét and Tamia first took the world by storm with their 1999 duet, “Spend My Life With You,” which spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. They joined forces again in 2006 for “Have To Go Through It,” a record from Tami’s fourth album, Between Friends.

Benét’s upcoming LP will arrive on Oct. 7. He is currently touring the country with Anthony Hamilton and Lalah Hathaway.

New Miles Davis Boxed Set Features His Quintet at Its Peak

The Miles Davis Quintet of the 1960s has long been praised as one of the most advanced small groups in jazz history, and anyone seeking to test the claim can choose from an abundance of evidence: studio albums, concert and club recordings, multi-disc collections. This fall will bring a new addition: “Freedom Jazz Dance — The Bootleg Series Vol. 5,” a three-CD boxed set.

Due out on Columbia/Legacy on Oct. 21, it features studio recordings made from 1966 to 1968 — during the creative peak of the band, which featured Davis on trumpet, Wayne Shorter on tenor saxophone, Herbie Hancock on piano, Ron Carter on bass and Tony Williams on drums. Along with master takes of familiar tracks like “Footprints,” the set will include more than two hours of previously unreleased material — including the full session reels for the 1967 album “Miles Smiles.”

The behind-the-scenes totality of this approach, which includes studio dialogue and false starts along with finished and alternate takes, will be of principal interest to connoisseurs. In some instances, the newly issued material captures a decisive moment of creation.

Nefertiti,” a Shorter composition, is a choice example: Released as the title track of a Davis album from 1968, it’s famous for not including a single solo, functioning instead as a kind of flowing drum concerto for Mr. Williams. On the session reel for the track you hear Davis halt the band and suggest this approach, to the giddy delight of the players.

Among the other highlights of the set — produced by Steve Berkowitz, Michael Cuscuna and Richard Seidel — are the complete session reels for “Water Babies” and “Fall,” and a curio titled “Blues in F (My Ding),” a home recording of Davis on piano, illustrating an idea for Mr. Shorter.

Columbia/Legacy has released four other Miles Davis boxed sets under the “Bootleg Series” brand, starting with “Live in Europe 1967: The Bootleg Series Vol. 1,” which was widely and justly acclaimed. The most recent, last year, was “Miles Davis at Newport 1955-75: The Bootleg Series Vol. 4.”
